Yes, Cyberpunk 2077 supports AMD FSR 4, but the game update and the driver are both part of the story. CD Projekt Red added the game-side integration in Update 2.3, released on July 17, 2025. AMD then listed Cyberpunk 2077 as an FSR 4-supported title in Adrenalin Edition 25.8.1.
Installing Update 2.3 alone is not enough, and FSR 4 is not available on every Radeon graphics card. You need a supported AMD GPU, a compatible Adrenalin driver, and the PC version of the game.

Update 2.3 was more than a routine performance patch. Its PC graphics additions included:

CD Projekt Red warned in the patch notes that the FSR 4 option would not appear until AMD released a supporting driver. In other words, Update 2.3 supplied the game integration, while AMD’s driver made the feature available to eligible Radeon hardware.

AMD’s 25.8.1 release notes identify Cyberpunk 2077 as an FSR 4-supported game. The package included Windows driver version 25.10.25.01 and listed support for Windows 10 64-bit version 1809 and later and Windows 11 version 21H2 and later, although operating-system support can vary by Radeon product.
Which Radeon GPUs support FSR 4?
The safest official answer is Radeon RX 9000-series hardware, particularly the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT, which were among the first clearly documented FSR 4 products. AMD later included RX 9060-series products in relevant driver and FSR materials; check the exact model and current driver before assuming availability.
Do not infer FSR 4 support from the fact that a driver installs on a card. These are separate questions:

- Can the AMD driver install on the GPU?
- Can Cyberpunk 2077 expose the FSR 4 option on that GPU?
- Can the card run FSR 4’s machine-learning upscaler?
Radeon RX 7000 and older cards may support other FSR versions and may be covered by AMD’s broader driver compatibility list, but that does not guarantee native FSR 4 support. AMD’s FSR documentation and the support page for the exact GPU are the appropriate references.
NVIDIA and Intel owners should not expect FSR 4 to appear in the standard game menu. Use the upscaling options officially exposed for the relevant hardware, such as DLSS or XeSS where supported.
FSR 4 is not FSR 3.1 Frame Generation
These features are related but distinct:
- FSR 4 is AMD’s machine-learning-based upscaling technology for selected hardware.
- FSR 3.1 Frame Generation creates additional displayed frames and was added separately in Update 2.3.
CD Projekt Red states that FSR 3.1 Frame Generation can work with any upscaler. Do not describe this as “FSR 4 Frame Generation”: selecting FSR 4 upscaling does not turn the separate frame-generation feature into FSR 4.

How to enable FSR 4
- Update Cyberpunk 2077 to Update 2.3 or newer through Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, or your relevant PC storefront.
- Install the current AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition driver for your exact Radeon model. AMD’s original Cyberpunk-specific listing appeared in Adrenalin 25.8.1; current drivers may use newer version numbers.
- Restart Windows if the installer requests it.
- Launch the game and open Settings → Graphics.
- Find the upscaling setting and select AMD FSR 4, if your GPU and driver expose it.
- Choose Quality, Balanced, or Performance based on your resolution and performance target.
- Test FSR 3.1 Frame Generation separately rather than assuming it should be enabled automatically.
If the setting does not appear immediately after updating the driver, fully close and restart the game.

FSR 4 renders the game internally below the output resolution and reconstructs the final image. Quality modes generally retain more detail but deliver less performance headroom; Balanced and Performance modes can provide more headroom while increasing the risk of shimmering, softness, or other reconstruction artifacts.
There is no universal FPS increase for Cyberpunk 2077. The result depends on the GPU, resolution, ray-tracing settings, path tracing, CPU limits, preset, and driver. Official AMD figures are manufacturer testing, not independent benchmarks.

Frame Generation can raise the displayed frame rate, but it does not provide an equivalent increase in simulation responsiveness. If the underlying frame rate is low, input latency and visual artifacts may still be noticeable. Establish a comfortable baseline frame rate before enabling it.
At demanding settings, especially path tracing, reducing the ray-tracing workload may be a better first step than choosing an aggressive upscaling mode.
FSR 4 troubleshooting
The option is missing
- Confirm the game is running Update 2.3 or newer.
- Check that the exact GPU is in the supported FSR 4 class; FSR 3 compatibility is not proof of FSR 4 compatibility.
- Install an AMD driver that lists Cyberpunk 2077 under FSR 4 game support, then restart the game.
- Disable graphics mods or injected upscaler DLLs.
- Verify the game files through your storefront.
You are using a laptop or handheld
AMD notes that notebook drivers may have limited support for system-vendor-specific features. If the generic AMD package does not expose FSR 4, check the laptop or handheld manufacturer’s driver first.

The game crashes with path tracing
Isolate the settings rather than assuming FSR 4 is responsible. Disable frame generation, test FSR 4 alone, then disable path tracing and retest. AMD later documented an intermittent Cyberpunk 2077 crash or driver timeout when loading a save with path tracing enabled. That is a separate path-tracing-related issue, not proof of an FSR 4 defect. Should you buy a Radeon GPU for FSR 4?
FSR 4 by itself is not a sufficient reason to buy a new graphics card. It is more relevant if you are already considering an RX 9000-series GPU for 1440p or 4K ray-traced gaming. Compare total raster and ray-tracing performance, VRAM, power requirements, cooling, price, and support across your wider game library.
For buyers evaluating AMD’s current generation, the RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 are clearly relevant FSR 4 options. AMD also lists the RX 9060 XT family in later materials, but verify the exact model, VRAM capacity, and driver support before buying.
