If Cyberpunk 2077 keeps crashing on PS4, start with a full power cycle, then check heat, airflow, downloads, and—if you own the disc—the disc itself. Try the steps below from least disruptive to more targeted. A crash is not proof that your save is damaged, and a system reset is not a routine fix.
Try these nine fixes in order
1. Install updates offered for your PS4 game and console
Check for updates that are actually available for the PS4 version and your console. CD PROJEKT RED’s PlayStation technical support index separates crash, performance, and installation help. The publisher said that after patch 1.6, new content and improvements would be released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S; it also said the PS4 and Xbox One versions would continue to work and receive technical support. Do not assume that newer-platform updates are available on PS4.

2. Fully power-cycle the PS4
CD PROJEKT RED recommends a complete power cycle for crashes and other performance problems. Save and close the game, shut down the PS4 rather than selecting Rest Mode, and wait until its lights are completely off. Unplug the power cable, wait at least two minutes, reconnect it, and start the console. The publisher says this procedure does not erase games or data. See its game-crash guidance.
3. Restart the game after a long session
If the crash happens after playing for a long time, close and relaunch the game. CD PROJEKT RED recommends restarting after long play sessions to clear memory and improve performance. It is a low-risk check, not a guaranteed fix. Its PlayStation performance guidance also covers the checks below.

4. Restart the console after using Rest Mode
If you resumed the game after putting the PS4 in Rest Mode, restart the console and test again. The publisher says Rest Mode does not clear the cache and may cause performance issues; it advises restarting the console after using it.
5. Check ventilation, heat, and dust
Make sure the console has room for airflow, particularly at the rear, and check for accumulated dust or dirt around it. If the PS4 feels unusually hot or is enclosed in a cramped space, allow it to cool and improve clearance before playing again. CD PROJEKT RED lists these as performance checks, but they do not establish the cause of every crash.

6. Pause downloads; inspect the disc if you use one
Pause active background downloads and see whether the game behaves differently. If you own a physical copy, inspect the disc for dirt or damage. Sony recommends a lint-free cloth made for Blu-ray Discs or DVDs to clean a dirty or scratched disc; follow its PS4 disc troubleshooting guidance. You can also try another disc to help determine whether the problem is specific to the game disc or relates to the console’s disc reading. Digital-copy owners should skip disc cleaning.
7. Test an earlier save if the crash follows one moment
If the game repeatedly crashes after loading a particular save or reaching the same event, load an earlier save and see whether you can continue. CD PROJEKT RED suggests this test in some cases. Keep your current save; the guidance does not establish that it is corrupt or recommend deleting it.

8. Consider Rebuild Database only for a disc-reading symptom
If a physical disc is not being read or loaded properly, Sony includes Safe Mode option 5, Rebuild Database, in its disc-troubleshooting guidance. This is a targeted step for disc-reading trouble, not an established general fix for Cyberpunk 2077 crashes. Before broader Safe Mode operations, back up important data.
9. Contact PlayStation Repairs for persistent console or disc-reading faults
If Sony’s disc-troubleshooting steps do not resolve a persistent reading problem, use the diagnostic path at PlayStation Repairs. Do not select Safe Mode option 7, Initialize PS4 (Reinstall System Software), as a casual crash fix: Sony warns that it deletes all information on the console, including system software.

What PS4 support means now
CD PROJEKT RED’s stated platform boundary after patch 1.6 is that the PS4 version would continue to work and receive technical support, while new content and improvements moved to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The publisher’s PlayStation support index continues to list separate technical topics for the PS4 game. This does not mean that newer-platform content updates are coming to PS4.
