Its biggest additions are expanded character customization, new vehicle color options, and a more flexible Photo Mode. The update also added ten purchasable vehicles, new Night City secrets, and quest, gameplay, and technical fixes.
What Update 2.2 adds
CD PROJEKT RED announced “over 100 new customization options for V” in its December 2024 patch announcement. That is the publisher’s count, rather than an independently measured total. The update’s emphasis is on personalizing V, cars, and screenshots, alongside fixes across the game.
The publisher described the release as a free update introducing “new character customization options, Photo Mode functionality, additional gameplay improvements, and much more.” CD PROJEKT RED also said Update 2.2 resulted from close collaboration with Virtuos.

The randomizer also adds a Plain-to-Punk slider for adjusting the style of randomized looks.
How CrystalCoat and TWINTONE work
CrystalCoat, originally designed for Rayfield vehicles, now supports select Herrera, Mizutani, Quadra, and Villefort cars. TWINTONE lets V scan another vehicle with Kiroshi optics, save its color scheme for a small in-game fee, then select it from the TWINTONE database in the CrystalCoat menu. Compatible cars are marked with a spray-can icon in Autofixer.
Generic schemes are available for compatible vehicles, while some copied schemes are unique to the model they came from. Not every car can be cloned: quest-linked vehicles, NCPD vehicles, and cars that are incompatible with CrystalCoat are excluded.

Ten vehicles added to Autofixer
Update 2.2 adds these purchasable vehicles. The two marked “Phantom Liberty only” require that expansion.

After Act 1, Johnny can sometimes appear in the passenger seat while V drives and react to events.
Photo Mode changes and platform differences
The drone camera is now a free camera rather than an orbital camera centered on V. Update 2.2 increases its range and adds full collision, camera lock, and precision-camera controls. Players can also add and adjust light sources, and a new Effect Intensity slider and a fix for Depth of Field ghosting improve shot control.

The Characters tab lets players place up to three selected NPCs in a shot from a list of more than 20, then adjust their expressions, poses, and positions.

Display screenshots in V’s apartments
SmartFrames by Kiroshi lets V display Photo Mode pictures in apartment frames. The Gallery menu tab sits beside Journal, Shards, and Tarot. It reads PNG screenshots from the PC screenshots folder or from the console gallery.
Quest, gameplay, and technical fixes
The update includes new Night City secrets and fixes for base-game and Phantom Liberty quests, including progression blockers. Some wait-to-progress objectives were reworded to clarify that players may need to keep playing rather than simply skip in-game time.

Other fixes address a katana finisher, quickhack RAM-cost buffs, HUD visibility, Synaptic Accelerator behavior, vehicle-combat horn issues, and NCPD behavior. The patch also addresses television audio, CrystalCoat application, Trauma Drama high scores, character mouth movement, NCART voiceover, and ray-traced Photo Mode shadows.
PC-specific notes
PC changes include key rebinding and additional Razer Chroma effects. CD PROJEKT RED’s patch notes also report threading optimization for up to 33% performance improvement on Intel Arrow Lake CPUs; the “up to” figure is specific to that CPU context, not a general performance claim for all PCs.
Is Update 2.2 free, and is it the current version?
Update 2.2 was free for existing Cyberpunk 2077 owners on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S when it was released on December 10, 2024. It was not a separate paid patch. The announcement does not establish whether 2.2 remains the game’s current version today.
