The quickest way to display FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 depends on where you bought the game and which GPU you use: Steam players can enable Steam’s Performance Overlay; GOG players can launch through GALAXY and press Ctrl + Shift + Tab; NVIDIA users can enable the NVIDIA App overlay and press Alt + R; AMD users can enable Adrenalin’s Performance Monitoring overlay and press Ctrl + Shift + O.
Cyberpunk 2077 does not require a special in-game console command. No universal built-in FPS-counter setting or command is identified in the current authoritative documentation, so an external launcher, GPU, or Windows overlay is the reliable PC solution.

How to show FPS in Cyberpunk 2077

Steam: enable the Performance Overlay
Steam’s current interface may call the feature Performance Overlay. Older guides usually refer to the same feature as the In-game FPS counter.

- Select Steam > Settings.
- Open In Game.
- Find the Performance Overlay section and enable it.
- Choose the information level you want, from a single FPS value to expanded FPS, CPU, GPU, and RAM details.
- Set the overlay’s position, text size, opacity, and shortcut if those controls are available in your client.
- Launch Cyberpunk 2077 through Steam.
Steam’s newer performance monitor can provide frame-rate history and additional CPU, GPU, memory, and generated-frame information on supported Windows hardware. GOG GALAXY: use the FPS shortcut
- Open GOG GALAXY and sign in.
- Make sure the GALAXY overlay is enabled in the client settings.
- Launch Cyberpunk 2077 using the Play button in GALAXY. Do not launch the executable directly.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Tab to show or hide the FPS counter.
Press Shift + Tab if you need to test the main GALAXY overlay. If that overlay does not open, its FPS shortcut will not work. GOG documents the shortcut and launch requirements in its GALAXY overlay documentation.
NVIDIA: use the NVIDIA App statistics overlay
- Open the NVIDIA App.
- Go to Settings > Features.
- Turn on In-Game Overlay.
- Start Cyberpunk 2077.
- Press Alt + R to show or hide the statistics overlay.
Press Alt + Shift + R to cycle through metric layouts. For more control, press Alt + Z, open Statistics, and select Configure heads-up display. NVIDIA’s overlay can show FPS alongside data such as GPU temperature and clock speeds.

If Alt + R does nothing, check Alt + Z > Settings > Shortcuts. Another application may have claimed the shortcut. NVIDIA’s documented requirements and controls are listed here.

AMD: use Adrenalin Performance Monitoring
- Open AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition.
- Open the performance or metrics-monitoring controls.
- Enable the Performance Monitoring overlay, also labeled Show Metrics in some versions.
- Select FPS and any additional metrics you want to display.
- Launch Cyberpunk 2077.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + O to show or hide the metrics overlay.
The shortcut is the default documented control, but it can be customized. Adrenalin can also display GPU usage, temperature, clocks, and other metrics, and some versions can log data to a CSV file. Driver or game-specific limitations can cause a metric to show N/A; that does not necessarily mean the game is producing no frames. AMD has documented cases involving unavailable FPS metrics in games, including Cyberpunk 2077. See AMD’s Performance Metrics documentation and release-note guidance.

Epic Games Store: use a GPU or Windows overlay
Epic’s current official support material covers FPS troubleshooting but does not establish a dedicated, universal FPS-counter setting in the Epic Games Launcher. For an Epic copy of Cyberpunk 2077, use the overlay that matches your hardware:
- NVIDIA GPU: use the NVIDIA App method above.
- AMD GPU: use Adrenalin’s Performance Monitoring overlay.
- Windows: try Xbox Game Bar with Win + G, open the Performance widget, and pin it while playing if the FPS metric is available.
- Other monitoring software: use a trusted third-party overlay when you need more detailed frame-time or hardware data.
You can also add a launcher or executable to Steam as a non-Steam game to try Steam’s overlay. This is a workaround, not an Epic feature, and it may fail because of launcher chains, permissions, or overlay-injection conflicts.

What to do if the FPS counter does not appear
- Confirm the shortcut. Use the shortcut for the overlay you actually enabled; NVIDIA, AMD, GOG, and Steam do not use the same control.
- Test the overlay itself. Try Steam’s overlay, Shift + Tab in GOG, Alt + Z in NVIDIA App, or the AMD metrics shortcut.
- Check how the game was launched. GOG requires the game to be started through GALAXY, with the client signed in and the overlay enabled.
- Change conflicting shortcuts. Laptop utilities, Windows features, chat applications, and other overlays may intercept the key combination.
- Disable competing overlays temporarily. Troubleshooting is easier with only one active counter. Possible conflicts include Steam, NVIDIA, AMD, Xbox Game Bar, MSI Afterburner/RivaTuner, and manufacturer gaming utilities.
- Try borderless-windowed mode. Some overlays behave poorly in exclusive fullscreen.
- Update and restart. Update the launcher, GPU software, and drivers, then restart both the launcher and Cyberpunk 2077 after changing overlay settings.
- Check privilege levels only if necessary. Running programs with mismatched permissions can interfere with overlays. Do not run everything as administrator as a first-line fix.
How to interpret the FPS number
FPS is the number of frames displayed per second, but it is not a complete measure of smoothness. A high average can still feel uneven when frame times spike or the game produces inconsistent low-percentile performance.
Frame generation also requires care. With DLSS or FSR frame generation enabled, distinguish between the frames rendered by the game, generated frames, and the final presented frame rate. Some overlays can separate these figures while others report a different stage of the rendering pipeline, so two counters may not show identical numbers. Steam’s newer monitor can identify generated frames in supported configurations.

For a quick check, one FPS counter is enough. For troubleshooting stutter or comparing settings, record the same metrics with the same overlay and pay attention to frame time, GPU usage, and whether frame generation is enabled.
