Skippy is an optional iconic smart pistol in an alley in Vista del Rey, Heywood. Its opening mode choice affects how it targets enemies; after enough use, it starts a conversation about changing modes. Later, it asks to be returned to Regina Jones, starting the Machine Gun job. Whether you hand it over or keep it determines whether that objective is completed.
Where to find Skippy
Search an alley in Vista del Rey, Heywood, for the pistol. Skippy is an optional pickup, and finding it begins the sequence that can eventually lead to the Machine Gun job. Which firing mode should you choose?
When you pick up Skippy, it asks you to choose between two targeting behaviors:
- Stone Cold Killer: aims for headshots, the lethal style.
- Puppy-Loving Pacifist: targets limbs, the non-lethal style.
Choose based on the behavior you want at first, but do not assume the opening choice is necessarily permanent. After sufficient use, Skippy raises its mode in a later conversation, and your response affects whether it stays in or switches modes. How much do you need to use Skippy before it talks about its mode?
Walkthroughs report a milestone of 50 enemies before the mode-change conversation. Treat that as a gameplay threshold reported by guides, not a statistic about players or a guaranteed count independently confirmed for every current game version. That mode conversation is separate from Skippy’s later request to return to Regina. Sources differ on how much in-game time passes before later dialogue, so allow some in-game time rather than relying on a specific number of hours or days.

Should you return Skippy to Regina?
After some in-game time, Skippy identifies Regina Jones as its previous owner and asks to be returned. This triggers the Machine Gun job. Follow the quest marker to Regina to complete the handover. The quest reference says Regina may later offer the pistol back without its AI; it does not establish a universal timing or reward amount. If you keep Skippy, you retain the pistol in its current state, but the handover objective remains unfinished. Make a save before deciding if preserving your weapon state matters to you. The return and location context is also covered by PC Gamer’s Skippy location guide.
