Is Cyberpunk: Edgerunners getting a sequel?
Yes. CD PROJEKT RED announced Edgerunners 2 with animation studio TRIGGER on July 4, 2025. The project is a standalone 10-episode story in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, described in its announcement as a tale of redemption and revenge. The announcement named Kai Ikarashi as director, Kanno Ichigo as lead character designer, Masahiko Otsuka as a returning collaborator, and Bartosz Sztybor as showrunner, story writer, and producer. Will Edgerunners 2 continue David’s story?
It has not been announced as a direct continuation of David Martinez’s story. The original series was announced by CD PROJEKT RED, TRIGGER, and Netflix on June 25, 2020. The studio said its team had been working on the series since 2018 and described it as a standalone 10-episode story. Its original announcement identifies Imaishi as director.
What are the Edgerunners spin-offs?
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS manga
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS is an official printed prequel manga about Rebecca and Pilar before they meet David and the others. KADOKAWA announced the Japanese first volume for August 28, 2025; the English collected volume is listed through Dark Horse Comics with a February 24, 2026 release date. Those are announced publication details, not confirmation of current retailer stock or price. KADOKAWA’s announcement describes the prequel and its editions.
Another anime project: what has the studio confirmed?
On March 26, 2025, CD PROJEKT vice president for investor relations Karolina Gnaś said the company was working on “another anime project set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe,” but was not ready to share specifics. The investor-chat record documents that statement. Because Edgerunners 2 was announced later that July, the March comment alone does not establish whether it referred to this sequel or a separate project. It is not proof of a third anime.
Live-action Cyberpunk project
CD PROJEKT said in an August 29, 2025 investor-chat response that its live-action project with Anonymous Content was “still at a very early stage,” and that projects of this kind typically take a long time. That is the studio’s status report as of that date, not a current production update or a release timetable. The investor-chat record contains the dated comment.

How the studio’s plans developed
- October 5, 2022: CD PROJEKT management said it was looking at opportunities in television and film, citing Edgerunners as part of its transmedia strategy. This expressed a direction, not a commitment to a sequel. The investor-chat record includes Adam Kiciński’s remarks.
- March 26, 2025: The studio confirmed an unspecified additional anime project in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, without naming it.
