Warner Bros. Games’ official Cyrax gameplay trailer for Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns was published on August 15, 2024. Its title and wedding-crash framing point to a dramatic reveal, but the publisher’s available descriptions do not confirm the scene’s exact sequence. The trailer introduces a reimagined Cyrax: a human Lin Kuei warrior who uses cybernetic technology in combat.
What the trailer reveals about Cyrax
This version of Cyrax is a young Lin Kuei warrior and martial arts prodigy, not a cyborg. NetherRealm combat designer Joe Epstein says Cyrax and Sektor are human in this timeline, combining advanced technology with conventional ninja training.

Epstein describes Cyrax as the quicker of the pair. Her tools let her control space, set up attacks and move around the arena:
- Traps and explosives: She can ensnare opponents and lay explosive traps. Her sphere multitools can be thrown as timed explosives or used as blades and point-blank bombs.
- Homing and restraint: Enhanced devices can home in on opponents, while sticky foam can trap them.
- Misdirection and movement: A device-triggered distraction can let her relocate behind an opponent, and friction boots aid her mobility.
These are the developer’s descriptions of her options, not independent performance testing. NetherRealm’s Cyrax and Sektor gameplay breakdown provides the details.
