Daily Red is a free browser game in which everyone faces the same daily Pokémon battle. You receive a shared team of six level-100 Pokémon, choose a lead, and try to defeat Red. It borrows Wordle’s daily reset, streak and shareable-result ideas, but there are no Pokémon names to guess. The primary version covered here is daily-red.com; it requires no account, download or purchase.
What is Daily Red?
Daily Red is an unofficial fan-made battle challenge built around one official attempt per day. The daily-red.com version uses its own battle engine based on Pokémon Showdown’s simulator and Generation 3 rules. The six Pokémon available to players are the same for everyone on that date and are randomly selected from Generations 1–3 at level 100.

Red’s opponent lineup is fixed: Pikachu, Espeon, Snorlax, Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise. Pikachu always opens the battle. Your objective is to defeat the team, then share a results grid in the same broad spirit as Wordle.
How to play Daily Red on daily-red.com
- Open the game page. Go to daily-red.com in a modern browser. The game runs in the browser and does not require registration or installation.
- Inspect the day’s six Pokémon. The shared level-100 team is displayed before you begin, so you can plan around its types and moves.
- Choose your lead. Your first Pokémon matters because Red starts with Pikachu. A Ground type is a strong opening consideration: Ground Pokémon take no damage from Electric moves.
- Select moves or switch. Each turn lets you attack or change Pokémon. Switching consumes a turn, so do it when the defensive or matchup benefit justifies giving Red an action.
- Finish the official battle. Only one battle per day counts toward your streak. If you leave the page during that battle, daily-red.com says the battle waits rather than giving you a second counted attempt.
- Use practice after your attempt. Once the official battle is complete, unlimited practice runs are available. Practice does not change the daily result or streak.
A new team unlocks at midnight in your local time zone. Wins and streak progress are saved in your browser on that device, with no account-based cloud profile.

Matchup tips for Red’s team
Pikachu: consider a Ground lead
Ground types are immune to Electric attacks, making them a practical answer to Red’s opening Pikachu. Check the moves on your assigned Pokémon before committing, because a type advantage does not guarantee a safe switch against coverage moves.
Charizard: use Rock attacks
Charizard is both Fire and Flying, so Rock attacks exploit a four-times weakness. The game specifically highlights Rock Slide as an especially effective option when one of your Pokémon has it.

Snorlax: prefer physical damage
Snorlax’s Defense is lower than its Special Defense in the game’s guidance, so physical attacks are generally preferable. Fighting moves are super effective and are the most direct way to pressure it.

Espeon is vulnerable to Dark, Ghost and Bug attacks. Preserve a Pokémon with one of those move types if the opposing lineup has not yet revealed Espeon.

Remember the Generation 3 ruleset
Daily Red describes its battle rules as Generation 3. In that generation, whether a move is physical or special is determined by its type rather than by the individual move. A move that behaves differently in a newer Pokémon game may therefore have a different damage category here.
Is Daily Red really free?
Yes. The daily-red.com FAQ says the game is free and needs no account. There is no required cartridge, handheld, emulator, guide or other physical product for this browser version. It is labelled an unofficial fan project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Nintendo, Creatures Inc., GAME FREAK inc. or The Pokémon Company.

Daily reset, streaks and sharing
- Reset time: the next challenge becomes available at midnight in your local time zone.
- Counted attempts: one official battle per day.
- Practice: unlimited after the official battle and excluded from streak calculations.
- Progress storage: saved locally in the browser on the device you use.
- Results: a shareable grid communicates the outcome without revealing the battle details.
Because progress is stored locally, clearing browser data, changing browsers or moving to another device can remove access to the saved streak. The site does not require an account that would restore it elsewhere.

Another website, dailyredgame.org, uses the same Daily Red name but describes different controls and different attempt behavior. Its page says a recorded attempt can resume after leaving or refreshing. That is not the rule described by daily-red.com, where leaving mid-battle causes the battle to wait and practice is available only after the official run. Follow the instructions on the exact site you opened rather than combining rules from both implementations.
