How do Class Trials work in Danganronpa 2?
A Class Trial is the game’s evidence-and-debate phase: students discuss a murder, and you use information from the investigation to challenge false claims and work out what happened. The outcome determines who is punished, so the trial is both a mystery-solving sequence and a major story event. Spike Chunsoft describes the format as students debating while you shoot down false truths with evidence; its overview also identifies minigames and Rebuttal Showdowns as parts of the trial. The basic loop
- Listen to the claim. Identify what a speaker is asserting rather than selecting evidence based only on a keyword.
- Recall the investigation. Compare that assertion with the clues and accounts you collected.
- Find a direct contradiction. Choose the Truth Bullet that addresses the specific mismatch, then use it as the trial prompt directs.
- Adapt to the next segment. Trials shift between interaction types. Read the on-screen instructions instead of assuming every challenge works like a debate.
Truth Bullets are evidence used to challenge false statements in debate. The strongest choice is the clue that directly disproves the claim, not merely one that seems generally relevant to the case.
How do I use Truth Bullets?
During a debate, statements appear as classmates speak. Watch for a claim that conflicts with a known clue, select the corresponding Truth Bullet, and fire it at the relevant statement when the game allows you to respond. The target matters: a correct piece of evidence used against the wrong statement may not solve the prompt.

- Read the whole claim before choosing; the contradiction may depend on a detail rather than a shared subject or name.
- Use the evidence you actually gathered. If no clue seems to fit, keep listening for more context or review the available prompts and Help.
- Do not treat every statement as false. The task is to answer the specific contradiction the trial presents.
Inputs differ by platform. A GameFAQs walkthrough documents PlayStation Vita controls, including aiming with the left analogue stick or directional pad, choosing a Truth Bullet with the left bumper, firing with Triangle or by tapping a statement, and concentrating with the right bumper. Those are Vita examples, not universal controls for Switch, Xbox, Windows, iOS, or Android. Use the current platform’s in-game Help for the correct mapping.
What do I do in a Rebuttal Showdown?
A Rebuttal Showdown is a one-on-one argument challenge with actions distinct from the ordinary debate. You counter the opponent’s line of argument, then use a Truth Blade when the opportunity to cut through their claim appears. Watch the prompts carefully: this sequence is not simply another chance to fire a Truth Bullet.

The same Vita walkthrough maps slash actions to directional input, overturn to X, and Truth Blade firing to Triangle or tapping the statement. Treat those mappings as version-specific examples only; check Help for your platform’s controls.
Why do trials feel like several different games?
Class Trials include multiple minigame patterns, not just spoken debates. Some emphasize timing or reflexes, while other segments ask you to work through a puzzle-like interaction. Spike Chunsoft’s description highlights minigames and the Rebuttal Showdown, and VIZ’s overview notes Truth Bullet shooting, puzzle segments, and Truth Blades. Read each segment’s instructions when it begins; a tactic that works in one section may not apply in the next.

How can I make trials easier?
Prepare before proceeding
A PlayStation Vita walkthrough describes a pre-trial preparation phase where you can review Truth Bullets, purchase or equip skills, adjust difficulty, or start the trial. If the current version presents these options, use the pause to make sure you know what evidence is available and choose a difficulty that suits you.
Choose support that matches the problem
The walkthrough recommends skills that provide more time, restore the Influence Gauge, or improve shots when a player is struggling. These are practical options to consider if you are losing time or making inaccurate inputs; the precise skill names, menus, and availability may vary by platform or edition.

Use Help and retry when needed
If you are unsure what an action means, open the game’s Help rather than relying on a control list for another system. The same Vita walkthrough says a trial can be redone from the main menu; check your version’s menus for the equivalent option if you want another attempt.

Search results and walkthroughs can reveal culprit identities, evidence chains, and chapter solutions. VIZ cautions that online resources may spoil the experience, and the GameFAQs walkthrough author warns that a complete guide cannot be entirely spoiler-free. For a first playthrough, look for explanations of general mechanics rather than chapter guides, and stop reading as soon as a page moves from controls to a specific case.
