Dark Souls Maps: Area Connections, Locations and Guidebook Options

The Dark Souls Wiki’s area listings help trace Lordran’s connections, while its World page flags Oolacile DLC locations. A FuturePress guide offers illustrated maps for the full trilogy.

For navigating the original Dark Souls, the Dark Souls Wiki’s Areas page is the most useful map-style reference in the available sources: it organizes Lordran’s areas by their connections and includes bosses, mini-bosses and notes. The sources do not establish a single official, unified interactive world map, so treat area diagrams and fan-made reconstructions as different things.

Use the Areas page to understand how locations connect

The Dark Souls Wiki’s Areas page presents Lordran as a connected set of areas, rather than merely a list of standalone levels. Its area table includes connections as well as bosses, mini-bosses and notes, making it useful when you want to work out where a route leads or what an area contains. Check the individual area entry for route details; the overview is a reference, not a guarantee of one required path.

Use the locations and world listings for names and coverage

The wiki’s Locations page lists the game’s locations and says they can generally be visited in no particular order; its displayed sequence is for convenience, not a mandatory progression. The World page lists the Northern Undead Asylum and Lordran locations, and separately identifies several Oolacile locations as additional content.

Check whether an Oolacile entry applies to your edition

The World page marks the Chasm of the Abyss, Oolacile Sanctuary, Oolacile Township, Royal Wood and Sanctuary Garden as Artorias of the Abyss DLC and Prepare to Die Edition content. If you are using a different edition, those entries may not apply to your version.

Is there an official interactive world map?

The available sources do not establish that the wiki provides one official, unified interactive map of the whole world. A page titled “Interactive Maps” appears in search, but its description is a generic invitation to create a map inspired by a fandom; it is not evidence that a Dark Souls interactive map already exists. Likewise, a stitched-together fan map should not be treated as official geography unless its creator and method establish that status.

Want an illustrated map in print?

FuturePress describes its Dark Souls Trilogy guide as including illustrated maps for every area across all three games, including DLC. It is a physical, trilogy-wide guide rather than a first-game-only map reference. The publisher’s description establishes the map coverage, but not current retailer stock, price or availability.

Which reference should you use?

Reference Coverage Useful for Format and qualification
Dark Souls Wiki: Areas Areas of Lordran Connections, bosses, mini-bosses and area notes Browsable wiki reference; community-maintained
Dark Souls Wiki: Locations and World Location names, including separately marked Oolacile content Checking which locations are listed and whether DLC content is indicated Browsable wiki listings; locations are not presented as a mandatory order
FuturePress: Dark Souls Trilogy guide Illustrated maps for every area in all three games and their DLC, according to the publisher A physical map reference spanning the trilogy Printed guide; current stock and price are not established

For route planning in the first game, start with the wiki’s area connections and open the relevant area entry. For a printed visual reference, the FuturePress guide is the source-supported option, with the trade-off that it covers the entire trilogy rather than only Dark Souls.
