Darkeater Midir is an optional boss in Dark Souls III: The Ringed City. Reach his full arena through a hidden opening in the Ringed Inner Wall elevator shaft, then focus your attacks on his head: it takes increased damage and can eventually expose a critical opening. His listed rewards are the Soul of Darkeater Midir and Spears of the Church.
Where to find Darkeater Midir
Midir first appears on the bridge near Filianore’s Church. This encounter is separate from the full boss fight: after taking enough damage, he falls away, and the optional arena becomes accessible beneath the church.

Route to the boss room
- Start at the Ringed Inner Wall bonfire and take the elevator shortcut.
- Watch for an opening in the elevator shaft and leave the lift there.
- Continue through the passage and past an illusory statue to reach the large cave and boss room.
According to the community-maintained Dark Souls Wiki entry, Shira can be summoned outside the room if you accepted her request and have not interacted with Filianore.
How to fight Midir
Stay in front and target the head
Midir has substantial health and strong defenses across much of his body; the head is the key weak point. Attacks there deal increased damage, so aim for the head rather than relying on leg or tail hits. A head-focused approach also creates the possibility of a poise break and riposte.

Recognize the danger of going underneath or behind
His wide, lingering fire attacks make staying beneath him dangerous, while his long-range tail sweep can punish players who linger behind him. Learn the attack strings, move clear of the coverage, and use the recovery window to attack rather than trading blows.
Critical-opening threshold
The combat-mechanics table on Darksouls3 Wikidot reports that head damage totaling 69.96% of Midir’s maximum HP exposes him to a critical attack (2022 reference). Another community guide describes a head-focused poise break and riposte around 30% health. These are differently described reference values, not a single guaranteed threshold; treat the opening as an opportunity produced by sustained head damage rather than a fixed promise for every configuration.

- Quest reward: The Dark Souls Wiki entry says speaking to Shira after the fight yields a Titanite Slab. It also notes the slab can instead be obtained by defeating Shira later, so it is not a guaranteed boss drop.
