Yes—Fatshark has official troubleshooting for Darktide Error Code 2014, but it does not promise one fix that will work for everyone. The current guide, dated July 10, 2026, treats 2014 as a connectivity or latency issue and recommends checking service status, testing the connection, and following the steps for your platform or storefront. Start with the low-risk checks below before changing router settings or deleting game data.
What does Error Code 2014 mean?
Fatshark lists Error Code 2014 among several connectivity and latency errors, but its guide does not establish one definitive cause for every occurrence. That means the code is a reason to troubleshoot the connection path—not proof that your router, ISP, or a particular setting is at fault. See Fatshark’s official Darktide connectivity guide.
Try these checks first
- Check for service problems. Look at the status of your platform’s services—Steam, Xbox, or PlayStation—and your ISP. If there is an outage, local router changes are unlikely to resolve it.
- Check connection stability. Fatshark says an upload speed below 1 Mbps is likely to result in an unstable experience. This is the threshold in Fatshark Support’s troubleshooting guide, not an independent Darktide benchmark or a guarantee that a faster connection cannot have problems.
- Restart the router and gaming device. Restart both the network equipment and the PC or console, then try Darktide again.
- Compare Wi-Fi with wired Ethernet. Fatshark recommends a wired connection because Wi-Fi can cause connectivity and stability problems. If practical, connect by cable as a test; it may help isolate a wireless issue, but it is not a guaranteed fix and no particular cable type is required by the guide.
- Change one condition at a time. If the error continues, compare your usual home network with a temporary mobile hotspot, try the game with a VPN disabled if you use one, and note whether failures coincide with a particular time, mods, or background software. Fatshark presents these as diagnostic checks, not cures.
Network settings to consider on PC
Fatshark’s guide includes several PC networking checks. Use them only if the simpler tests do not help, and consult your router or Windows documentation before changing settings.
- Flush DNS: Open Command Prompt, run
ipconfig /flushdns, then restart the PC. - Try another DNS provider: Follow that provider’s setup instructions; the guide does not name one universally preferred provider.
- Check UPnP or port forwarding: Fatshark describes UPnP as one way for the router to allow required connections. If it is unavailable, the guide points to platform-specific port information. Do not copy an arbitrary port list: use the requirements for your platform. Incorrect router changes can disrupt internet access, and Fatshark advises consulting router documentation. It also cautions users to understand the security risks before enabling UPnP.
- Check other possible network conflicts: The guide suggests checking for cFosSpeed, reviewing manual changes to the Windows hosts file, and checking network-adapter power management. For an IPv6-only network, it says to enable the launcher’s IPv6 Network option.
A hotspot or VPN test can help determine whether your usual network is involved, but Fatshark notes that a VPN or hotspot may not be viable as a long-term solution. If a VPN is already on, test with it off as well.

Follow the steps for your platform
Fatshark’s file-repair steps differ by storefront. Deleting the listed AppData folder resets custom keybindings, so consider that consequence before proceeding.
Steam on PC
- Update the Steam client.
- If needed, temporarily disable Steam Cloud, then delete the Darktide directory under
%appdata%Fatshark. - Verify the game files in Steam and restart Steam.
- If connection problems continue, try selecting a nearby Steam download region.
Fatshark warns that Steam Cloud may restore the deleted AppData, in which case the error can return. Disabling Cloud is presented as part of this troubleshooting sequence, not a permanent requirement.

Microsoft Store on PC
- Delete the Darktide directory under
%appdata%FatsharkMicrosoftStore. - In the Xbox app, use Verify and Repair for the game.
For a sign-in-specific Backend Error, Fatshark describes signing out of the Xbox app, launching Darktide, then signing back in when prompted. That instruction addresses the sign-in error described in the guide; it is not a universal Error Code 2014 fix.
Xbox
Fatshark provides steps for deleting local save data on Xbox and says Darktide progress is stored on its servers, so deleting local save data will not delete that progress. Follow the current Xbox instructions in the official guide rather than applying PC folder steps to a console.

- Advanced LIGHTSPEED wireless gaming mouse for super-fast 1 ms response time and faster than wired performance

Steam and Microsoft Store: mods and background apps
For both PC storefronts, Fatshark recommends testing with mods disabled, checking that the game has appropriate firewall and antivirus exceptions, and disabling background applications as a diagnostic. Change one thing at a time so you can tell whether it affects the error.
What Fatshark’s investigation says
In an official connectivity investigation thread, community manager FatsharkJulia said Fatshark was looking into a rise in disconnection and connectivity reports, including 2014. An August 21, 2025 update said new logging and error codes were live, so older codes such as 2014 and 3013 might appear as newer codes. It also described packet-size improvements and a hub reconnect fix as targeted for version 1.8.6. That version-specific update is not evidence that every 2014 report has been fixed in the current build.

Is switching Wi-Fi to 2.4 GHz an official fix?
No. In a March 16, 2025 forum post, one player reported improved stability after changing a Wi-Fi adapter from dual-band to 2.4 GHz and forwarding ports. That is an individual workaround report, not a Fatshark diagnosis or controlled test. Fatshark’s current guide recommends testing wired networking and discusses port forwarding when UPnP is unavailable; it does not prescribe switching to 2.4 GHz as a universal fix. See the player’s forum post.
What to send Fatshark if the error persists
Fatshark’s investigation asks players to provide details that can help distinguish a platform, ISP, or local-network pattern. Gather these before opening a support request or posting in the relevant official support thread:
