Dave & Buster’s appointed Kevin Bachus senior vice president of entertainment and game strategy on October 22, 2012. The newly created role was intended to extend the arcade chain’s gaming experience beyond its venues to mobile and online platforms. The announcement described a plan, not proof of what that strategy ultimately achieved.
Who is Kevin Bachus?
Bachus was one of four Microsoft employees credited by Dave & Buster’s with conceiving the Xbox console. At the time of his appointment, he was chief product officer at Bebo. The company announcement said Bebo had more than 120 million registered users in 2012; that is a historical figure, not a current user count. Dave & Buster’s announcement

A later company filing lists Bachus’s earlier technology and gaming work, including Microsoft roles in Xbox third-party relations and DirectX product management. It also records that he served as Dave & Buster’s senior vice president beginning in November 2012. SEC-filed company document

What did “multi-platform gaming” mean?
Dave & Buster’s described a shift in emphasis from entertainment experienced on its premises toward a strategy that could also include mobile and online platforms. In practical terms, the stated ambition was to connect the company’s arcade identity with gaming beyond its venues. The announcement and employment offer do not specify particular mobile or online products, launch dates, or a performance comparison between those channels and the arcades.

What is established—and what is not?
The announcement and subsequent filing establish the appointment, the intended strategy, the responsibilities assigned in Bachus’s offer, and his service in the role beginning in November 2012. They do not establish the strategy’s long-term business results or Bachus’s present employment status. The hiring itself should not be treated as evidence that the plan succeeded.
