Yes, Dawn of War IV is happening. KING Art Games is developing the Warhammer 40,000 real-time strategy game, with Deep Silver publishing it. The current announced release date is December 3, 2026, on Steam for Windows PC; Commander Edition is listed for an early unlock on November 30. The developer may be the surprise: KING Art is best known here for Iron Harvest, not for earlier Dawn of War games.
Who is developing Dawn of War IV?
German studio KING Art Games is developing Dawn of War IV, and Deep Silver is publishing it. KING Art announced the project on August 19, 2025, saying it had already been working on the game for almost four years. The original announcement identified the game as a 2026 release but did not give an exact day; the current date comes from the later official FAQ and Steam listing.
KING Art is the studio behind Iron Harvest, its real-time strategy game set in an alternate-history world of dieselpunk machines. Creative Director Jan Theysen described Dawn of War IV as the studio’s second major leap forward as an independent developer. That background makes the choice notable, but the developer has framed the new game as a return to large-scale RTS battles and base-building.
When and where does Dawn of War IV release?
As currently listed by Deep Silver and Steam, Dawn of War IV launches December 3, 2026, on Steam for Windows PC. Deep Silver’s FAQ lists November 30 as the early unlock date for Commander Edition, three days ahead of the standard launch. Release schedules and store details can change before launch, so check the official listing for the latest information.

What kind of game is Dawn of War IV?
It is a real-time strategy game set in Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 universe. The conflict takes place on Kronus, and KING Art describes a design built around commanding large forces, constructing bases, researching and upgrading, and managing resources. The studio has announced more than 110 units and buildings; that is a developer-stated feature count, not an independently measured statistic.
The game’s four confirmed factions are Space Marines, Orks, Necrons, and Adeptus Mechanicus. Adeptus Mechanicus is making its Dawn of War series debut, according to Warhammer Community.
What campaign and multiplayer modes are announced?
Warhammer Community says the game will include more than 70 campaign missions, playable alone or with a friend. The announcement also names Skirmish, Last Stand, and multiplayer. Deep Silver’s FAQ says multiplayer modes are planned for launch. These are pre-release feature announcements, not a report on a finished game.

The broad outline points to both a substantial story campaign and ways to play beyond it, but the announcements do not establish final mission details, multiplayer rules, or how every mode will work at launch. Those specifics may become clearer as development continues.
