Its stated ambitions include building and flying rockets, landing on other planets, and exploring. Hall said in August 2026 that KSA would be free and funded by contributions, but the sources available do not establish a full-release date or final platform list.
What is Kitten Space Agency?
Kitten Space Agency is a spaceflight simulator in development at RocketWerkz, the studio founded by Dean Hall. Programmer Stefan Moluf described it as a game about rocket building, engineering, and exploration, with an intended loop that takes players from assembling a rocket to flying it, landing on other planets, and exploring. These are the team’s design aims, not a complete feature list verified in a finished release. Space.com’s November 2025 interview with Moluf also identifies original Kerbal Space Program creator Felipe Falanghe as a contributor to KSA, and describes Moluf as a former SpaceX flight-software engineer.
Hall is best known as the creator of DayZ. His new project draws on the appeal of spaceflight games, but its relationship to Kerbal Space Program is one of inspiration rather than franchise ownership.
How is it meant to take on Kerbal Space Program?
Moluf called KSA an “unashamedly” spiritual successor to Kerbal Space Program. That phrase signals the kind of experience the team wants to pursue; it does not mean KSA is an official sequel or that it will reproduce KSP’s systems.

Take-Two’s announcement also reported that the original Kerbal Space Program had sold more than 5 million units worldwide as of 2021. That is a historical figure for KSP, not a current sales total or a statistic for KSA.
Who is making the game?
- Dean “Rocket” Hall: RocketWerkz founder and project lead, and creator of DayZ.
- Felipe Falanghe: creator of the original Kerbal Space Program, reported by Space.com as a KSA contributor.
- Stefan Moluf: RocketWerkz programmer who discussed KSA’s design with Space.com. The publication describes him as having spent nearly 12 years in SpaceX flight-software work.
Is Kitten Space Agency free, and when can you play?
In an interview published August 30, 2026, Hall said: “With Kitten Space Agency, the game is completely free. It’s funded entirely by contributions.” That is Hall’s description of the funding model at the time of the interview; the available sources do not specify the current contribution mechanism or long-term funding terms. PC Gamer’s August 2026 interview with Hall is the latest reviewed account of that model.

A July 13, 2026 search-result extract from 4Gamer reported an in-game teaser and a free pre-alpha release, but the article page could not be opened. Treat that as a limited report rather than a basis for build details or access instructions. The available reporting establishes KSA’s broad design ambition and Hall’s stated free, contribution-funded model, but it does not establish a finished feature set, final platforms, full-release schedule, current player count, or development budget. A 2025 report described the project as pre-alpha, which is historical context rather than confirmation of its current build status. PC Gamer also quoted Hall in March 2025 giving a community count of about 25,000 Discord members; that is a figure from that point in time, not a current membership total.
