Loot is tiered from safer civilian areas to dangerous military and contaminated sites, although published tier maps disagree. The Dambog Bunker in the southwest is Livonia’s main underground objective: its primary entrance needs a degrading Punched Card, its three floors increase from tier 1 to tier 3 military loot, and a complete raid normally requires at least two players.

How large is the Livonia map?
The commonly quoted area for Livonia is about 163 km². That figure comes from the downloadable-content description as reproduced by the DayZ Fandom wiki, rather than from a published Bohemia Interactive land survey, so treat it as an approximate map area.

For comparison, community references usually put Chernarus at roughly 225 km², with some giving 230 km². Livonia is therefore around 62–67 km² smaller on paper. In play, however, the difference is less obvious than the numbers suggest: dense woodland, winding rivers, hills and roads that do not run straight between towns create longer, less predictable journeys.
| Map | Area commonly cited | What is established | Practical effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Livonia | About 163 km² | DLC-description figure quoted by the DayZ Fandom wiki; year of the original description is not recorded | Compact footprint, but forests and river crossings conceal movement and lengthen routes |
| Chernarus | About 225–230 km² | Community estimates vary by source | Larger overall landmass and longer coast-to-inland travel |
There is no official width-and-height specification that can be used safely as a fact. A forum discussion found no Bohemia Interactive answer; one player estimated roughly 12,800 × 12,800 game units, while Chernarus is often listed as 15,360 × 15,360. Those are community figures, not authoritative dimensions. The official printed Livonia map gives a scale and sheet size, but not a calculated area.
#1 Best Overall
- Use any means necessary to survive a hostile open world for as long as possible.
- explore the authentic open world of chernarus, featuring 230 square kilometres of hand-crafted terrain based on real-life locations.
- become immersed in a tense, emotional experience driven by the emergent interactions of 60 players on a single server, each one fighting for survival.
- experience a wide variety of complex survival mechanics, from hunting and crafting, through to sophisticated injury simulation and transferable diseases.
- survive against environmental dangers, including the infected, dynamic weather, and animal predators
Why Livonia feels bigger than 163 km²
- Forest cover: trees restrict sightlines and make landmarks harder to use for navigation.
- Rivers and bridges: crossings funnel players toward predictable points and can force detours when you avoid exposure.
- Winding roads: the shortest straight-line path is often not the safest or fastest route.
- Vertical terrain: hills and valleys hide settlements and military compounds until you are close.
- Inland danger: moving away from the southern approach generally means better equipment and more dangerous players, so cautious travel takes longer.
How Livonia loot tiers work
Loot is distributed in tiers rather than being uniform across the map. Tier numbers broadly represent the quality and rarity of equipment that can spawn in an area, but the exact boundaries depend on the current mission files and game version. Guides disagree on Livonia’s layout, so do not treat one static map as permanent.
Why published tier maps conflict
One guide groups Lukow Airfield and Bielawa in tier 1; Radunin, Borek and Krsnik in tier 2; and Swarog and the Dambog Bunker in tier 3. It lists military and industrial sites separately as a “Unique” category. Another guide defines tiers mainly by distance from the coast and danger, with northern military zones reaching tier 4. Both descriptions can appear plausible because individual buildings, contaminated zones and special loot tables do not always fit a simple ring around the map.
Interactive maps such as wobo.tools and dzpage.com report building their loot information from the game’s mission files. Check one immediately before planning a run, especially after a major update. A static guide is useful for orientation, but the live map is the better authority for current tier boundaries and item categories.
Reading a tier for route planning
- Lower tiers: prioritize food, clothing, medical supplies and basic tools. They are safer places to establish a character and gather transport supplies.
- Middle tiers: expect better weapons and protective equipment, but also more competition from players moving inland.
- Highest or special tiers: military compounds, contaminated zones and bunker floors can provide rare weapons and night-vision equipment, but require greater preparation and carry a higher ambush risk.
Tier is not a guarantee that a particular item will appear. Server loot economy, recent player activity, persistence settings and the condition of buildings all affect what you actually find. Plan for several stops rather than a single “must-have” spawn.
Key Livonia locations and what they offer
Swarog Military Base
Swarog is described as Livonia’s largest surface military installation. Its scale makes it a logical destination for players seeking military clothing, weapons and ammunition, but it also creates many firing lanes and approach routes for defenders. Scout the perimeter, check elevated ground and avoid crossing open areas in a straight line when you do not know whether the compound is occupied.
Radunin contaminated zone
Radunin is a contaminated area. To loot it properly you need a complete NBC suit and the associated protection, including a functioning mask and filters. Guides specifically associate the zone with assault rifles and night-vision goggles. Enter only after checking that every NBC component is usable; a missing or ruined piece can turn a high-value run into a fatal exposure event.
Lukow Airfield
Lukow has military hangars, guardhouses and broad sightlines. The open ground makes movement visible from distance, so approach from concealment, watch towers and windows before crossing the runway area, and avoid lingering after you have collected what you need. It is often placed in a lower tier by one guide, but the exact classification should be confirmed on a current interactive map.
Where is the Dambog Bunker?
Dambog is a small hilltop compound in Livonia’s far southwest. The bunker entrances are inside this military site. Because the compound sits above the surrounding terrain, arriving players can be observed from the approaches; use the slope and tree line for cover, and assume that other groups may be watching the access point.
How to enter the Dambog Bunker
1. Obtain a Punched Card
The main entrance is card-gated. Punched Cards are scarce, and community guides commonly report convoy zombies as one source. Search convoys when you encounter them, but do not assume every convoy will produce a card. Bring a spare plan for the trip if you cannot secure one.
2. Check the card’s condition
Every swipe degrades the card. A pristine or worn card can support multiple uses; a badly damaged card may be ruined after one use, according to a Steam player report. Inspect the condition before leaving for Dambog and avoid wasting swipes on test attempts. If you are sharing a card, agree in advance who will use it and how the group will exit.

3. Use the main card-reader door
The primary entrance has a card reader. Position the card, activate the reader and wait for the door to complete its opening cycle before moving through. Keep a guard outside or at the threshold if you are alone; the approach and doorway are obvious places for an ambush.
4. Know the second entrance
A smaller metal door sits beneath a military control tower. Opening that door from outside requires at least two people, so it is not a solo bypass. A group can use the second entrance as an alternative access point, but should still bring a card for the main route unless the current server version has changed the requirement.
5. Leave with the internal lever
You can exit without another card swipe. A lever on the main door opens the way out, as described in a Steam discussion. Locate it before descending so a damaged or ruined card does not trap you underground. Keep the exit clear of dropped equipment and bodies that could obstruct interaction.
What is on each bunker floor?
The bunker’s loot is arranged vertically:
| Level | Reported loot tier | Planning implication |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Tier 1 military loot | Useful for basic military clothing, ammunition and weapons; a relatively quick first sweep |
| Level 2 | Tier 2 military loot | Improved equipment, with greater time underground and more exposure to other teams |
| Level 3 | Tier 3 military loot | Highest reported bunker tier; weapon caches are associated with this floor after Puzzle 2 |
The weapon-cache claim and puzzle sequence come from material covering DayZ versions 1.19 through 1.23. Those details may not match the build you are playing in October 2026. Treat the floor progression as a planning baseline, then verify puzzle requirements and cache locations on a current community map or server guide.

Preparing for a Dambog run
Equipment checklist
- A Punched Card in good condition, unless your group is using the two-person tower-door route.
- Food and water for the approach, bunker sweep and return journey; do not rely on finding supplies inside.
- A close-quarters weapon and a reliable firearm with enough ammunition for infected and player contact.
- Medical supplies for bleeding, shock and infection, plus spare clothing in case of damage.
- Light and replacement batteries for underground navigation.
- Space in your inventory for military loot; entering overloaded reduces your ability to fight or retreat.
- At least one teammate for security and, if using the tower entrance, the two operators needed to open it from outside.
Team roles
Assign one player to interact with the card reader or lever, one to watch the entrance and one to manage the rear or stairwell when the group is large enough. Call out which floors have been cleared and leave distinctive low-value items untouched as route markers only if your server’s persistence rules make that reliable. Do not split into different floors without a communication plan: the bunker’s narrow interior can turn a friendly-fire mistake into a wipe.

- Award winning innovative design that bridges the gap between roleplaying and boardgaming in space by integrating ship to ship and boarding action.

Timing and extraction
Approach in daylight when possible so you can identify watchers and movement around the hill. Inside, move deliberately rather than sprinting through every room; noise travels and a rushed search increases the chance of missing the exit lever or leaving supplies behind. Once the group has the high-value items, leave instead of repeatedly reopening the door for marginal loot.
A practical Livonia route framework
- Stabilize in a low-risk settlement. Collect food, water, basic clothing, a knife, medical items and a backpack before heading inland.
- Use a current loot map. Check wobo.tools or dzpage.com for the server version, then choose a route that matches your objective rather than following an outdated tier ring.
- Choose your risk level. For general gear, use civilian and lower-tier military stops. For high-end equipment, decide between Swarog, Radunin, Lukow and Dambog based on whether you have NBC gear, a card and enough players.
- Stage before the final site. Repair clothing, refill water, sort ammunition and hide surplus items in a secure location before approaching a large compound or bunker.
- Scout the objective. Observe towers, roads, windows and likely exits for several minutes. A quiet entrance is not proof that the site is empty.
- Search by priority. In Dambog, clear level 1 and level 2 efficiently, then reach level 3 and Puzzle 2 only if your group can defend the route and still extract.
- Extract early. Use the internal lever, regroup outside the compound and leave by a different route when practical. Carrying rare loot makes a second fight less attractive than a safe retreat.
Common problems and fixes
“My card worked once and then disappeared.”
That can happen when a card is already badly damaged. Card condition is consumed by each swipe, and a ruined card cannot be relied on for a return trip. Check condition before entry and identify the internal lever immediately.
“I am alone at the second door.”
The control-tower entrance requires at least two people to open from outside. Use the main card-reader door or return with a teammate; it is not a solo shortcut.
“The tier on my map does not match a guide.”
Loot classifications conflict between static guides. Mission-file-based interactive maps are generally the better current reference, but server updates can still change results. Confirm the map’s version and treat labels as probabilities, not guarantees.
“The bunker has no weapon cache after Puzzle 2.”
The cache and puzzle information comes from DayZ 1.19–1.23 coverage and may be outdated. Check current server documentation and search the entire reported level-3 area rather than assuming the cache is guaranteed.

“We cannot find enough loot to justify the danger.”
Loot is affected by server economy, persistence and recent visits. If the objective is basic military equipment, a surface base such as Swarog or Lukow may be more efficient. Reserve Dambog for groups prepared to use the card, solve the current puzzle sequence and defend an extraction.
Choosing between Livonia objectives
| Objective | Access | Typical reward focus | Main risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lukow Airfield | Open surface site | Military gear from hangars and guardhouses | Long sightlines and exposed runway crossings |
| Swarog Military Base | Open surface site | Large military installation with broad loot potential | Multiple approaches and strong player competition |
| Radunin | Requires full NBC protection | Assault rifles and night-vision equipment are reported | Contamination plus armed-player risk |
| Dambog Bunker | Punched Card main door; two-person tower door | Three floors from tier 1 to tier 3 military loot; level-3 weapon caches reported | Card scarcity, confined combat, puzzles and difficult extraction |
Use this comparison to match the site to your supplies. A player with no NBC kit should not choose Radunin, and a solo player with a damaged card should not build a plan around repeated Dambog swipes. Livonia rewards routes that fit your equipment more than routes that simply point toward the highest tier.
What to verify after a game update
Loot tiers, bunker puzzles, card durability and door behavior are volatile. After an update, verify four items before committing valuable gear:
- The current tier assignment for the towns and military compounds on your route.
- Whether convoy zombies still drop Punched Cards and how card durability is calculated.
- Whether the control-tower door still requires two players from outside.
- Which puzzle sequence and weapon-cache locations are active on the current build.
Until those checks are complete, treat older guides as historical orientation rather than instructions. The stable planning facts are Livonia’s approximate 163 km² footprint, the map’s forest-and-river travel pattern, Dambog’s southwest hilltop location and the bunker’s card-gated main access.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Livonia smaller than Chernarus?
Yes. Livonia is commonly cited at about 163 km², while community estimates place Chernarus around 225–230 km². Livonia can still feel large because of dense forests, rivers and indirect roads.
Can you enter the Dambog Bunker solo?
The main entrance requires a Punched Card and can be used by one player, but full looting is generally safer with at least two people. The smaller control-tower door requires two people to open from outside.
