Contemporary coverage compared the result to real grass or soft Astroturf. Those are subjective tactile comparisons, but they capture the point of the product: the novelty came from being able to run your fingers across a fuzzy, grass-like device surface rather than looking at a flat grass pattern.

That “more than 100” figure belongs to the original launch reporting. It should not be treated as a fixed count for dbrand’s current catalog. Before ordering, check the exact device generation and configuration. Important details include whether the product covers a bare device or a case, how it handles camera bumps, whether a laptop’s hinge area is supported, and which Steam Deck or handheld revision the selector identifies.
Was it a skin, a case, or both?
Touch Grass was primarily a skin, but dbrand also offered configurations associated with its Grip Case.
- Standalone device skin: Adhesive vinyl applied directly to compatible hardware. It changes the appearance and adds texture but is not equivalent to a protective case.
- Grip Skin: A skin intended for a compatible dbrand Grip Case. It should not be confused with a complete case.

Android Central reported that a deluxe kit cost nearly $100 and included a larger vinyl sheet and Japanese application tools. That figure should not be presented as the price of every 2025 version.

For comparison, when the later Touch Grass (Again) page was observed in August 2026, a selected Grip Case configuration displayed a total of $69.90. The shown bundle included a Grip Case, case skin, microfiber cloth, and a free Blue Sky skin. The free-skin promotion was temporary, so the contents and price should be checked on the official product page rather than assumed to remain unchanged.
Is the original Touch Grass 2025 edition still available?
Dbrand’s limited-edition catalog lists Touch Grass 2025 — Apr 2025 as retired. The same catalog separately lists Touch Grass (Again) — Apr 2026.
That distinction matters. The later edition is a return to the idea, not proof that every original 2025 device variant, finish, or configuration is still available. Readers looking specifically for the 2025 version should not assume that a current product selector or a third-party listing represents the original release.

- Cleaning: Flocked fibers can plausibly collect dust, lint, pet hair, and other debris more readily than smooth vinyl. They may also be harder to wipe clean. These are reasonable material-related considerations, not a claim based on a standardized durability or cleanliness test.
- Protection: A skin primarily changes the surface and appearance. It does not provide the impact protection of a conventional case.
- Bulk: A Grip Case bundle offers more physical protection but adds thickness and cost.

Who should buy Touch Grass?

It is a poor fit if your priorities are maximum drop protection, easy cleaning, the lowest possible customization cost, or guaranteed access to replacement pieces years from now. It may also be impractical for devices that spend most of their time in lint-filled pockets or bags, or for users who need a conventional professional-looking finish.
Alternatives
For thin customization without the fuzzy surface, browse dbrand’s standard skins. For grip and physical protection, look at the Grip Case range. Other textured or leather-style finishes may be easier to clean or better suited to office use, but they should not be assumed to reproduce Touch Grass’s flocked-grass feel.
Anyone primarily concerned with protecting an expensive phone or gaming handheld should choose a conventional protective case first and treat the skin as an optional cosmetic layer.

Dbrand’s Touch Grass succeeded because it was more than a joke image: it was a real, physical novelty accessory launched on April Fools’ Day.
