The headline refers to an Xbox Wire announcement published on May 21, 2025—not a current 2026 “coming soon” update. Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 arrived on May 27, Metaphor: ReFantazio followed on May 29, and Tales of Kenzera: Zau arrived through EA Play on May 22. The lineup also included several other games across different Game Pass plans and platforms.
Availability has since changed. Xbox later listed Metaphor: ReFantazio as leaving Game Pass on May 31, 2026, while the supplied official sources do not establish the current September 2026 status of every other title below.

The original Game Pass schedule
Xbox’s official announcement, “Coming to Game Pass: Metaphor ReFantazio, The Division 2, Tales of Kenzera: Zau, and More,” covered games arriving immediately, later in May, and in early June 2025.

These were not universal Game Pass additions. The plan, device, and delivery method mattered: some games were listed for Standard, others for Ultimate and PC Game Pass, and Tales of Kenzera: Zau was specifically described as an EA Play addition.

Metaphor: ReFantazio
Metaphor: ReFantazio is a turn-based fantasy role-playing game built around a royal tournament to determine who will rule after a cursed prince is displaced. Its combat and character progression use the game’s Archetype system.
At launch, Xbox listed it for cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S through Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard. A separate Xbox Wire feature described Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC support, as well as Xbox Play Anywhere.
For players seeking a substantial, story-focused RPG with turn-based combat, this was the headline addition most likely to justify extended play time. It was not a short trial-sized game, however, and subscription access was temporary. Xbox’s May 2026 Game Pass roundup listed it as leaving the library on May 31, 2026. It should therefore not be described as currently included without checking the live catalog.

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2
Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is a third-person action RPG and shooter focused on loot progression, open-world activities, and cooperative play. Xbox announced its Game Pass arrival for May 27, 2025, alongside the game’s Year 7 Season 1.
The announcement listed cloud, console, and PC access through Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard. The word “console” is broader than the specific Xbox Series X|S wording used for some other games in the same announcement; it should not automatically be read as confirmation of Xbox One support.
This is the better fit for subscribers who want multiplayer progression and shooting rather than a primarily single-player RPG. Its live-service structure also means seasonal content, matchmaking, and server support are part of the experience. The Year 7 Season 1 reference describes the 2025 context and should not be treated as a current-season designation.

Tales of Kenzera: Zau was an EA Play inclusion
Tales of Kenzera: Zau arrived on May 22, 2025 through EA Play. Xbox listed it for cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThat distinction matters. It was not presented in exactly the same way as a standard standalone Game Pass library addition, and the announcement did not list it for Game Pass Standard. It is a focused action-adventure and platforming game, making it a natural choice for players who prefer a more contained experience over a long RPG or an ongoing shooter.

Which game was the best fit?
Choose Metaphor: ReFantazio for a major RPG
Pick it if you want a long-form story, turn-based battles, fantasy world-building, and deep character progression. The trade-off is the time commitment and the fact that its Game Pass inclusion later ended.

Choose The Division 2 for co-op shooting
It suits players who prefer third-person combat, loot, open-world activities, and multiplayer progression. Live-service systems can be more dependent on matchmaking and ongoing support than a self-contained single-player game.
Choose Tales of Kenzera: Zau for a focused adventure
This is the more natural choice for a shorter, concentrated action-adventure and platforming experience, provided your Game Pass plan included the relevant EA Play access.
Choose based on your device and plan
Cloud players should look for titles explicitly listed for cloud access, while PC-only subscribers should focus on entries marked for PC Game Pass. Game Pass Standard did not receive every title in the announcement. Platform listings also varied between games, so “coming to Game Pass” was never enough information by itself.

What changed after the announcement?
The May 21, 2025 article is now an archive of a rollout, not a dependable snapshot of the September 2026 catalog. Xbox later confirmed one clear change by listing Metaphor: ReFantazio among the games leaving on May 31, 2026.
The supplied official sources do not establish the current September 2026 availability of The Division 2, Tales of Kenzera: Zau, or every other title in the original lineup. Check the current Xbox Game Pass catalog before subscribing, downloading, or assuming that a title remains included. Catalogs can also vary by region, platform, cloud eligibility, and subscription plan.
Game Pass access versus buying a game
Game Pass can be useful when you want to sample several games or use a broader combination of console, PC, and cloud benefits. Game Pass Ultimate is the plan most associated with that broad combination; PC Game Pass is aimed at Windows PC players, while Game Pass Standard is relevant only where the specific title and platform are listed.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Buying a game outright may make more sense if you expect to play one title for months or want access after it leaves the subscription catalog. Xbox Wire displayed Metaphor: ReFantazio with a $69.99 store listing in its May 2025 feature, but that was a historical price and should not be treated as the current price.
For current prices, eligibility, promotions, and regional terms, use the official Game Pass page or the Xbox games store. A subscription provides access while the plan and catalog entitlement apply; it does not mean permanent ownership.
