de Blob 2 is a platformer for Nintendo Switch in which painting the world is the main mechanic. It supports one or two players on one system, with local split-screen co-op, and Nintendo UK rates it PEGI 7. What kind of game it is
The core mechanic is paint. Blob uses color to change the world around him, and that painting is built into the platforming rather than sitting beside it. If you want a straightforward platformer with a single gimmick, the paint mechanic is the thing to evaluate. Everything else in the game is built around it.
Story and level structure
The story returns Blob to Prisma City, where he resists Comrade Black’s effort to eliminate color from the city. The campaign is organized around exploration through varied environments, and Nintendo’s listing describes it as 12 single-player story levels. Each level also contains power-ups, mini-missions, and boss battles.

The campaign is the main reason to play. Mini-missions and power-ups reward returning to areas and exploring beyond the direct path, which is where much of the variety in the game sits.
Playing with another person
Co-op is local. THQ Nordic describes the cooperative mode as two-player split-screen. Nintendo UK lists one to two players on one system.
Nintendo UK’s product page states: “Multiplayer requires one compatible controller per player. Additional controllers (sold separately) may be required.” Before you buy for a two-player household, check how many controllers you already own that are compatible with the Switch. The page does not name a specific controller model that is required, so you do not need a particular accessory for solo play.

The PEGI 7 rating and the ESRB descriptors are not directly interchangeable. The ESRB listing names specific content descriptors, while the UK listing gives only the PEGI age category on the page reviewed. If you are deciding for a young child, the US descriptors show what kinds of content are present: slapstick-style humor, mild cartoon violence, and mild language.
Game card or digital download
Nintendo UK lists both a Switch Game Card and a download version. The US Nintendo listing reviewed for this article is a digital edition page, so the physical option is clearer on the UK listing than on the US one. Availability of the physical card at a given retailer changes over time and should be checked directly.

The card format suits people who want a physical copy to lend, store, or move between consoles. The download suits people who would rather not swap cards or who already have space for a 3.2 GB game.
Switch 2 compatibility
Nintendo’s US listing says the game is supported on Nintendo Switch 2, with behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch. That is a compatibility statement, not a claim of enhanced features. Nothing in the official pages reviewed says the Switch 2 version offers improved performance, graphics, or added content.
Release date and price
The Switch release date is August 28, 2018. A THQ Nordic release notice dated July 30, 2018 said digital and retail versions would launch that day at a suggested retail price of USD 29.99 or EUR 29.99. That price is historical launch pricing. It does not reflect the current price at any store, and current prices and stock should be checked on the retailer’s own page.
