To escape the Deku Scrub Lockup in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, use Tri’s Bind to pull the key through your cell door, sneak past the guards, then recover the Tri Rod through the side-cell route. After that, descend into the well and navigate its currents to reach the exit. The Heart Piece and Might Crystal along the way are optional.
Where the Lockup fits in the Faron quest
The Lockup follows the Stilled Blossu’s House Rift. During the early escape, Zelda cannot use her Echoes or Tri Rod, but she can still use Tri’s Bind. After escaping, Blossu gives Zelda the Sweet Spot Membership, which lets her enter the Sweet Spot and continue the Faron Wetlands quest toward Faron Temple. Nintendo Life’s Lockup walkthrough and its Faron Wetlands quest guide place the jail between the house rift and the Sweet Spot sequence.
Faron Wetlands is in southeast Hyrule. The regional rifts begin opening after Zelda accepts the Lands of the Goddesses Main Quest; the route into the wetlands climbs a waterfall southeast of Lake Hylia and leads through Scrubton and Heart Lake. Nintendo Life’s regional guide outlines that broader route.
Escape the first cell and pass the guards
- Pull the key through the cell door. Wait for the guard to leave the Lockup Key outside, then use Bind to draw it within reach. Pick it up and unlock the cell.
- Take the left staircase. This leads into the first guard section.
- Use boxes as cover. In the first room, Bind wooden boxes into positions that block a guard’s route or hide Zelda as she moves.
- Cross when sight lines are clear. In the next room, wait until the guard looks away, cross, and use the southern wall as cover. Where two guards patrol back to back, watch their turns and move through the passage when both are looking away. A rupee pickup is optional.
Optional Heart Piece: uncover the shrub passage
In the room with two cells, beds, and shrubs, use Bind on the middle shrub to reveal a hidden passage. The Heart Piece is optional and lies beyond it.

Without the Tri Rod, arrange the beds, shrubs, table, and torches into a climbable route to reach the Heart Piece. If building that route is awkward, leave it for later: after recovering the Tri Rod, return and use a platforming Echo such as Platboom or Clouds.
Recover the Tri Rod through the side cell
- Return outside the hidden Heart Piece room and unlock the cell on the right.
- Use Bind to reposition the stone beds and table as steps. Carry the table toward the right side, then use the torches to climb to the next area.
- Recover the Tri Rod there, then activate the switch to return to the beginning of the Lockup.
- Take the right-hand staircase to continue toward the well.
Cross the well’s currents and bubbles
In the room beyond the staircase, you can summon enemies to distract or scare the guards. Continue to the well and drop in. The water route mixes floating crates, enemies, and strong currents:

- First floating crates: Put Boulders on them to weigh them down.
- Next crates: Use Bind to move them out of the way.
- Underwater passage: Clear obstacles and deal with the Hydrozol before continuing.
- Strong current: Stack objects into a barrier to hold your position, or ride a Flying Tile across.
- Current near the exit: Place Boulders or other objects between the sand and the bubbles. Make the barrier tall enough to line up with the platform on the right, then swim across without being pushed back down.
Optional Might Crystal: ride upward through the bubble current
Near the end of the well, a Might Crystal sits above a bubble current separate from the exit route. Two approaches can get Zelda up to it:
- Piranha Echo: Summon a Piranha Echo, Bind to it, and let it swim upward through the current. Release Bind at the top and swim quickly to the Crystal.
- Wooden Box: Put a Wooden Box on the far side of the wall, Bind to it as it floats upward, then release at the top and swim to the Crystal.
Once you have the Crystal—or decide to leave it—continue to the well’s exit.

What happens after the escape
Blossu greets Zelda outside and gives her the Sweet Spot Membership. With it, Zelda can enter the Sweet Spot area and proceed through the Stilled Faron Wetlands Rift sequence; Faron Temple follows in the regional quest.
