The Dell XPS 710 H2C was a premium gaming desktop distinguished by a two-stage hybrid cooling system for its processor. It was sold in varying configurations, so the CPU, graphics cards, memory, storage and other specifications depended on the particular system and market.
What was the Dell XPS 710 H2C?
Introduced in 2007, the XPS 710 H2C was a high-end variant of Dell’s XPS 710 gaming desktop. Its defining feature was a hybrid processor-cooling assembly combining liquid cooling with a thermoelectric (TEC) heat exchanger. Contemporary PC Watch coverage described a radiator and TEC exchanger working around a 120 mm fan to cool the liquid in two stages. Dell presented improved heat rejection and reduced noise as design aims; the report does not provide independent measurements establishing those outcomes. PC Watch’s January 10, 2007 report gives the launch-era description.
That report explains H2C as “Hybrid two-stage Cooling” or “Hot to Cool.” These are translated descriptions in the Japanese article, not an English verbatim quotation.
Which processor and graphics cards did it have?
There was no single specification shared by every XPS 710 H2C. Contemporary reports describe different example configurations, rather than two official tiers or a universal spec sheet.

| PC Watch, January 2007: minimum configuration in its regional launch report | Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 at 2.93 GHz; 1 GB memory; NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI chipset; 160 GB hard drive; DVD-ROM; GeForce 7900 GS with 256 MB; Windows XP Home Edition SP2. The report also lists a 1 kW power supply, a black-only chassis in that market context, dimensions of 218 × 616 × 572 mm, and weight of at least 22 kg depending on configuration. PC Watch |
| HotHardware, February 2007: high-spec evaluation system | Intel Core 2 QX6700; two GeForce 8800 GTX cards; 4 GB memory; two Western Digital Raptor drives in RAID 0. HotHardware |
The PC Watch launch report also describes available expansions such as GeForce 8800 GTX SLI graphics, Sound Blaster X-Fi and a PhysX card. These details belong to that report’s regional context, not a guarantee about every unit. HotHardware described its reviewed computer as Dell’s first non-limited-edition factory-overclocked system and first in-house liquid-cooling system; that characterization applies to the period and system discussed in its February 19, 2007 evaluation.
How to identify or service an XPS 710 H2C
Dell’s XPS 710 H2C support page lists a dedicated Service Manual and Setup Diagram. The service-manual listing shows an update date of March 14, 2013. Use Dell’s hosted manual for model-specific procedures and diagrams rather than assuming instructions for a standard XPS 710 apply to the H2C cooling assembly.

A service-manual excerpt says the processor heatsink is attached to the liquid-cooling assembly and that thermal grease is important for adequate thermal bonding when reinstalling the assembly. This makes CPU thermal paste a relevant repair consumable when that documented service is necessary; it is not an upgrade recommendation. Follow the official manual’s procedure, check product compatibility, and use safe application instructions. The excerpt is available on a third-party manual mirror; for repair steps, consult Dell’s listed document.
