Delta’s App Store launch happened on April 17, 2024
Apple changed its App Store rules in April 2024 to permit qualifying game-emulator apps. Delta became one of the most prominent beneficiaries when it launched publicly on April 17, 2024, after previously being distributed primarily through AltStore.

Delta is an independent project, not an official Nintendo emulator. Delta and AltStore state that they are not affiliated with Nintendo or Apple. MacRumors reported on Delta’s 2024 App Store launch.
Where Delta is available in 2026
Outside the European Union: Apple’s App Store
In non-EU regions, Delta’s official installation guide directs users to Apple’s App Store. Search for Delta – Game Emulator, confirm that the developer is Testut Tech, and tap Get.
The U.S. listing describes Delta as free to download, supports iPhone and iPad, and lists iOS/iPadOS 14.0 or later as the minimum requirement. App size, version number, ratings, compatibility details and optional in-app purchases can change, so check the live listing before installing.

European Union: AltStore PAL
EU users may not find Delta through an ordinary App Store search. Delta’s official documentation directs users in EU countries to AltStore PAL, Apple’s alternative app-marketplace framework.
AltStore’s current download instructions require users to be physically located in a supported region, use a supported regional App Store account, and run iOS/iPadOS 18.0 or later. The process also requires approving AltStore as an alternative marketplace in Settings.

AltStore’s website currently lists PAL availability in the EU, Japan and Brazil. Delta’s own guide emphasizes the App Store-versus-EU distinction, so installation steps can vary by country and Apple Account region.
How to install Delta through AltStore PAL
- Open AltStore’s download page in Safari, Chrome or Vivaldi.
- Tap the download button.
- In Settings, approve Allow Marketplace From AltStore LLC under the Apple Account area.
- Return to the download page and tap download again.
- Choose Install App Marketplace.
- Open AltStore PAL and install Delta.
Do not treat AltStore PAL as identical to the App Store. It uses an alternative distribution and permission model, even though Apple’s notarization and marketplace rules apply to the process.

AltStore Classic
AltStore Classic is a separate worldwide sideloading route. It requires AltServer running on a Mac or Windows computer. Under its stated model, apps generally need to be refreshed every seven days and users are limited to three installed apps at a time. It is mainly relevant to people who cannot use the App Store or AltStore PAL.

Delta’s importing documentation also lists Sega Genesis file extensions. That does not necessarily mean every Delta release or distribution channel provides identical, fully released Genesis support. Check the documentation for the specific build you install.

Supported formats are not a guarantee that every game, ROM hack, accessory or game dump will work perfectly. Delta’s official importing guide lists the current formats.
How to install Delta from the App Store
- Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
- Search for Delta – Game Emulator.
- Confirm that the developer is Testut Tech and that the listing has Delta’s expected branding.
- Tap Get and authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID or your Apple Account password.
- Launch Delta after installation.
If Delta does not appear, first check your Apple Account storefront and region. EU users should follow the AltStore PAL route rather than installing a similarly named app from an unknown developer.
How to add games to Delta
Delta is an emulator, not a game store. It does not provide a built-in catalog of Nintendo games. You must obtain compatible game files—often called ROMs—from a lawful source, such as a personal dump where permitted by the law that applies to you.
To import a file:
- Place the legally usable game file in the Files app, cloud storage, or another location accessible to iOS.
- Open Delta.
- Tap the + button in the top-right corner.
- Select the game file.
- Let Delta import it into the library and retrieve artwork where available.
Do not use unauthorized ROM repositories or assume that owning a cartridge automatically makes downloading a replacement copy legal everywhere. Emulator software and copyrighted game files raise separate legal questions, and copyright exceptions differ by jurisdiction. Delta’s troubleshooting guide confirms that the app does not distribute games.

Does Delta require BIOS files?
BIOS requirements depend on the system, Delta version and feature being used. Later App Store listing notes describe Nintendo DS BIOS files as optional in that version, but that should not be generalized to every configuration or every game. Some DS functions, compatibility cases or third-party setups may behave differently without them.
If a game fails, consult Delta’s current documentation for the specific system rather than assuming BIOS files are always required—or never required.
Delta’s useful features
Delta offers considerably more than a basic touch-screen emulator. Its features include:

- Local multiplayer
- Backup and sync features
- Haptic Touch support
- Nintendo DS online features through community Nintendo WFC servers
The App Store listing says Delta supports MFi controllers, PlayStation controllers, Xbox controllers, Nintendo Switch Pro controllers, Joy-Cons and Nintendo Switch Online controllers. Actual behavior can vary with the controller model, iOS version and connection method. A physical controller is especially useful for Nintendo 64 games, although Delta remains usable with touch controls.

The safest route is to obtain Delta from an official distribution channel. Outside the EU, that means Apple’s App Store listing from Testut Tech. Delta is described as a sandboxed iOS application in its project repository. In regions using AltStore PAL, installation follows the alternative-marketplace process and its associated permissions and notarization framework.

None of that makes any download completely risk-free. Avoid counterfeit apps, unofficial emulator downloads and questionable game-file sources. Importing a corrupted or malicious file can also create problems. Verify the developer, use Delta’s official documentation, and grant alternative marketplaces only the permissions you understand.
Common problems and fixes
Delta is missing from the App Store
- Check whether your Apple Account storefront is in the EU or another unsupported region.
- Use Delta’s official region-specific installation guide.
- Search for the exact name and verify the developer is Testut Tech.
- Do not substitute a similarly named app from an unknown developer.
A game will not import
- Confirm that the extension is supported.
- Extract the file if it is still inside an incompatible archive.
- Try importing through Delta’s + button.
- Check that the file is not corrupted and belongs to a supported system.
A game freezes or will not launch
Test a legally obtained, unmodified dump before blaming Delta. Corrupt files, altered ROMs, unusual ROM hacks and large hacks requiring additional patching can all cause launch or stability problems.
A controller will not connect
- Pair it in iOS Bluetooth settings first.
- Update iOS and the controller firmware if updates are available.
- Reopen Delta after pairing.
- Test a supported PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo or MFi controller.
- Check whether the issue affects every game or only one system.

For most users outside the EU, the App Store version is the simplest choice. EU users should use AltStore PAL if they meet its current requirements. AltStore Classic is a fallback for readers who specifically need sideloading and accept its extra maintenance.
Bottom line
Delta is a legitimate, actively documented iPhone and iPad emulator whose App Store debut took place on April 17, 2024.
