To recruit everyone in DELTARUNE, spare the required number of each enemy type from Chapter 2 onward, complete the relevant character-specific conditions, and check each chapter’s recruitment screen or in-game checkpoint before moving on. Chapter 1 enemies join automatically. Avoid defeating recruitable enemies violently: they can become LOST and cannot be recruited again.
The enemy counts and special conditions below come from the community-maintained Deltarune Wiki recruitment reference. Toby Fox’s June 1, 2025 gameplay reminder, as quoted by that reference, says recruiting more enemies makes Castle Town livelier and may unlock activities, and that chapters provide a way to confirm recruitment near the end. Chapter 1 enemies are automatic recruits; the spare counts begin in Chapter 2.
How recruitment works
- Meet the required spare count for each enemy type separately; one type’s tally does not substitute for another’s.
- Check the RECRUITS menu at Dark World SAVE points to see partial and completed tallies. In Cyber World, the menu may not appear until you have at least one partial or complete Chapter 2 recruit.
- A violent defeat can mark an enemy LOST, even if you recruited that type earlier. A LOST enemy cannot be recruited again. Party Dojo battles do not change recruitment status.
- Some Castle Town arrivals depend on exploration, inventory, or avoiding LOST recruits—not just on the spare tally.
Chapter 1: automatic recruits
There is no Chapter 1 spare count to complete. These enemies are recruited automatically when you continue from a Chapter 1 file or start from one:
- Rudinn
- Hathy
- Ponman
- Rabbick
- Bloxer
- Jigsawry
- Rudinn Ranger
- Head Hathy
For an optional appearance later, backtrack after ringing the Forest bell and speak to Starwalker. One exception to the automatic-recruit rule matters in a later chapter: the Rabbick appearing with two Ribbicks in Chapter 3 can be made LOST if defeated violently.

Characters and conditions
- Hacker: find him and bring him all three blue checkmarks.
- Orange, pink, and yellow Addisons: their appearances depend on handling the FreezeRing. The reference’s condition is that it must not be equipped or remain in your inventory.
- Electro-Dasher: this character appears if fewer than three Electro-Dashers are hit during the Cyber City driving segment.
- Nubert: recruit all possible Chapter 2 enemies. The reference notes that Mauswheel is an exception in the game logic for this condition, and also reports a bug in the Chapter 2 total-recruit check involving Mauswheel. Treat that total check as imperfect evidence, not proof that every individual recruit is present.
Verify before leaving Queen’s Mansion
At the final staircase on the highest floor of Queen’s Mansion, Trashy appears to warn you if recruits are missing; the reference says Trashy is absent if all have been recruited. The SAVE menu is available in Castle Town and in later chapters for checking recruitment progress.

Story recruits and Castle Town conditions
Lanino and Elnina are recruited through story progression; they are mandatory and cannot be lost. To get Tenna, recruit Pippins and Shadowguys, avoid losing any Chapter 3 recruits through violence, repair Tenna, and do not give away his Light World TV form. The Green Room employee list is the Chapter 3 check for whether everyone was recruited. Small Mike and related TV Studio appearances have additional prerequisites beyond this general checklist.

Final recruitment check and unlocks
Use the RSVP list at Green’s Shop at the Top of Castle to check whether everyone has been recruited. Recruiting Balthizard, Mizzle, and Shadowguy unlocks a Castle Town church climbing minigame. Specific recruits also affect Flower Castle interactions and hangout options, while the all-recruits condition gates the Trashy Trio fight at the bakery.
