Windows requirements versus Steam client support
The game’s listed minimum and recommended operating systems are legacy Windows versions. That is separate from the operating system needed to run the current Steam client: the store page says, “Starting January 1st, 2024, the Steam Client will only support Windows 10 and later versions.” Steam store listing.
In practical terms, the game’s legacy requirements do not mean that an older Windows installation can still use the Steam client. If you plan to install or launch the Steam copy through Steam, account for the client’s stated Windows 10-or-later support.
