What is Deponia about?
The story follows Rufus, who lives on a world turned into a vast garbage dump and dreams of reaching the floating city above it. When Goal, a woman from that upper world, enters his life, his plans become tied to her. Steam describes the game as a comedy adventure with hand-drawn 2D graphics, dialogue, humor, and puzzles.
How does the game play?
Deponia uses point-and-click exploration and inventory-based puzzles: players inspect locations, interact with characters and objects, and use collected items to make progress. Its presentation is built around comic hand-drawn art and eccentric humor. These are features described on Steam’s store page, not a claim about how difficult or fair its puzzles are.

Can you still claim Deponia for free?
No. Notebookcheck reported on March 10, 2026, that the free-to-keep promotion would end March 16, 2026. That deadline has passed. The game remains listed on Steam, where current price and availability depend on region and may change.
