Court of Blades was a Destiny 2 activity introduced in Episode: Heresy Act II. Its loop sent players through enemy arenas of escalating difficulty, using runes to shape their playstyle. It is now listed as vaulted in Bungie’s Year 8 Destiny Content Vault update, so the official sources cited here do not establish a current way to launch it.
What is Court of Blades?
Court of Blades was a Destiny 2 combat activity built around successive enemy arenas and increasing difficulty. Bungie’s March 6, 2025 preview said players would use runes to “uplift their playstyle” as they fought through the challenges and pursued the mantle of the Taken King. It launched with Episode: Heresy Act II.

The concept was a progression of combat encounters rather than a single boss fight. Bungie’s launch recap described more than 20 bosses to defeat, but that is a launch-era description—not an independently verified count of encounters currently available.
How did Court of Blades work?
Arena combat and escalating difficulty
Players advanced through arenas of enemies, facing rising difficulty. Bungie’s preview establishes that broad structure but does not provide a complete run walkthrough or exact encounter order.

Runes and playstyle
Runes were a defining part of the activity: Bungie said they could uplift or shape a player’s approach. The available official description does not provide a full rune list, explain every effect, or identify optimal combinations, so specific build advice cannot be confirmed from these sources.
Expert difficulty adjustments
A Bungie update dated April 17, 2025 documented changes for Expert difficulty during Lucent Hive weeks. It reduced Lucent Hive Guardian boss health, delayed their Super abilities until they were below 33% health, limited Super re-enabling when multiple bosses were present, and removed Lucent Hive Knights from randomized fodder selection because they could create difficulty spikes. These were rotation-specific adjustments at that time, not general advice for every Court of Blades encounter or a statement of current tuning.
What rewards did Court of Blades offer?
Bungie’s launch recap announced five new Heretical Arsenal weapons. The preview said each could drop as an Adept version, with possible extra perks in each column and the Runneth Over Origin Trait. Those are historical launch-era reward details; they do not confirm a current loot pool or guarantee that the weapons can be earned now.
There was also a physical Bungie Reward tied to the activity: the Willbreaker Long Sleeve Shirt. Bungie’s March 13, 2025 announcement required players to earn the Efficient Challenge Triumph in Court of Blades by 9:59 AM PDT on May 6, 2025. That deadline has passed, and the announcement does not establish present stock or availability.

Bungie’s Year 8 Destiny Content Vault article lists Court of Blades among the vaulted activities. The activities moved into the vault with the launch of Year 8 on July 15, 2025, after Episode: Heresy’s Year 7 period ended with The Edge of Fate’s release in July 2025.
Bungie says, “Activities may be re-added into the Portal during later releases.” This is a possibility, not a return commitment or schedule. The cited official listing does not establish a current Portal location, launch route, or expansion purchase that unlocks Court of Blades.
