Some Destiny 2: Heresy voice lines may be silent because of the SAG-AFTRA strike, Bungie warned before the episode launched on February 4, 2025. Bungie said subtitles were enabled by default and that activities missing voice acting would display a warning before launch. The studio has not confirmed in the sources available here whether those specific Heresy recordings were later restored.
Why are some Heresy voice lines silent?
In a January 30, 2025 notice, Bungie attributed the missing dialogue to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike: “Due to the on-going SAG-AFTRA strike, you may notice certain voice lines being silent in-game.” The notice was published ahead of Heresy’s February 4 launch. Read Bungie’s notice.

Bungie did not publish a count of affected lines, characters, languages, or players, nor a complete list of affected dialogue. Player reports have mentioned different cases, including French voice acting and dialogue involving Sloane and Xivu Arath. Those reports are individual examples, not an official inventory. How to follow the story when dialogue is missing
Bungie said subtitles were enabled by default so players could still follow narrative content. The studio also said a Heresy activity with missing voice acting would show a warning before launch. If dialogue is silent, read the subtitles and check for that activity warning; speakers or headsets cannot restore recordings that are absent from the game.

Subtitle size, color, background, and speaker-name display can be adjusted in the game’s settings. If subtitles are disabled or hard to read, change those options before continuing.
Could silence indicate a separate audio problem?
Bungie’s notice establishes that some Heresy voice lines were expected to be silent because of the strike. It does not diagnose every instance of missing sound. If subtitles appear but dialogue audio does not, the line may be among those Bungie described; if other game audio is also missing or the behavior does not match an activity warning, the official notice alone cannot establish the cause. The cited player reports do not provide a complete diagnostic guide for individual audio faults.

Were the missing Heresy lines restored?
The cited sources do not confirm whether the specific Heresy lines were added later, so their restoration status remains unconfirmed. Bungie’s July 17, 2025 update said recording conflicts had been resolved and that it was re-recording lines for affected characters in The Edge of Fate.
