Yes. Bungie presents Saint-14 and Osiris as lovers, making their relationship canon in Destiny 2. The clearest confirmation is their Season of Plunder reunion, which includes a kiss. Bungie’s retrospective also describes their story as a love story—but “always have been” needs a little care: that framing supports a long-running relationship, while not every earlier story beat made the romance equally obvious to every player.
What makes Saint-14 and Osiris’s relationship canon?
Bungie’s own wording settles the basic question. In its December 14, 2022 article, “Saint-14, Osiris, and the Little Teacup That Could”, Bungie calls Osiris someone who has “returned to his love’s side” and describes the subject as a story of “Saint and Osiris going Facebook Official.” The playful “Facebook Official” phrase is the article’s framing; the important point is that Bungie explicitly identifies them as lovers.
The relationship is also depicted in the game. At the end of Season of Plunder, Saint and Osiris reunite after Osiris returns from Savathûn’s control, and they kiss. Bungie’s narrative team discussed how the scene came together in the same article. Nick Ardizzone said, “This has been a long time coming,” and that “Weaving that moment of reconnection into the ending of Season of Plunder just made sense.”
Why the Season of Plunder reunion matters
The kiss makes the romance explicit on screen, while the circumstances give the moment its emotional weight. Osiris’s absence left Saint grieving, fearful, and impatient for his return. The reunion turns that long separation into a scene of recognition and relief rather than introducing a romance without prior history.

Bungie narrative-team member James Myers recalled that the team considered staging details to shape the moment, including “incorporating pigeons or something for a fairy tale-esque moment.” He joked: “Imagine: they kiss, and a flutter of pigeon wings fly off into the sunset.” The anecdote illustrates that the kiss was a deliberate narrative choice, not an accidental or ambiguous gesture.
Does “always have been” mean every earlier clue was obvious?
Not necessarily. Bungie’s retrospective calls the relationship long anticipated, and its wording supports continuity of intent. But that is different from saying every earlier appearance unmistakably signaled romance to every player. Canon and visibility are separate questions: the relationship is canon, even if some players did not read earlier lore as romantic before the explicit reunion.

For earlier context, Bungie’s story “The Accolade” presents Saint searching for Osiris in a letter and shows Osiris later looking upon what remained of Saint. It conveys history, longing, and devotion; that passage alone does not explicitly state that the two are a couple. The later official framing and in-game reunion make the status clear.

Bungie notes that Osiris appeared in Season of the Seraph after the Season of Plunder reunion. The studio also points to the pair’s shared living space and a teacup as visual storytelling. Those quieter details extend their relationship beyond the kiss, while the direct confirmation comes from Bungie’s description of Osiris as Saint’s love and the in-game scene itself.
