Bungie described the planned downtime as 24 hours in its May 23 announcement. Its more detailed timeline placed the game-offline milestone at 9:30 AM on June 3 and the estimated return at about 10:00 AM on June 4, so the detailed schedule did not describe an exact 24-hour interval between those two milestones. The planned release date for The Final Shape was June 4, 2024, according to Bungie’s expansion guide.
Why the schedule lists two different June 3 start times
Bungie announced maintenance beginning at 9:00 AM PDT, then listed 9:30 AM PDT as the planned time Destiny 1 and 2 would be brought offline. The first time marked the maintenance start; the second marked the scheduled removal of the games from service. That distinction explains why both times appear in launch-week announcements.

Was the June 4 login time guaranteed?
No. Bungie described the return time as approximate and cautioned that release complexities could shift stated times. It also warned players to expect possible queues or sign-on issues while background maintenance continued. The schedule is Bungie’s published plan; it does not establish the exact time every player successfully logged in or how long any queue lasted.

Bungie’s support guide says planned live-service content updates ended after Update 9.7.0 on June 9, 2026, while noting that a stability hotfix may still be issued if needed. That status does not mean maintenance or outages cannot occur; it only underscores that the 2024 Final Shape schedule is historical.
