Where to find free PC games
These official catalogs are useful for finding candidates. Their listings establish how a game is offered, not whether that particular game will run offline or on Windows 10. Verify those details on the game’s own product page or its publisher’s support page.

- Microsoft Store: top free single-player games on PC is a filtered catalog. Individual listings may say “Free,” “Offers in-app purchases,” or “Included with Game Pass.” Check the offer for the game you choose; a single-player label is not proof of offline support.
- Epic Games Store’s free-games page advertises a weekly free game and also lists free-to-play titles and demos. Check whether a listing is a permanent free-to-play game, a limited-time giveaway, or a demo; offers can change.
- Steam’s free-to-play catalog helps find games available to download without a subscription or credit card, as described in Steam Support’s free-to-play explanation. That pricing category does not confirm offline play.
- GOG’s zero-price catalog lists games priced at zero. Check the product page for Windows 10 requirements and offline details for each title.
Use the official store or publisher download route rather than an unverified mirror. Catalogs and promotions change, so confirm the current offer and the exact title before downloading.
How to verify a game will work offline
Do not rely on “free,” “single-player,” or “offline” as an unqualified store label. Look for explicit publisher or launcher guidance about offline play, sign-in, and any internet connection required for first launch or later authentication.

- Check Windows compatibility. On the individual game page, confirm Windows 10 is supported and review the stated minimum CPU, memory, graphics, and storage requirements.
- Check the offline and sign-in rules. Look at the publisher’s support information and the relevant launcher documentation. Confirm whether the game can launch without a connection after installation and whether it requires an online first launch or periodic sign-in.
- Confirm what “free” means. Distinguish a permanent free-to-play title from a limited-time giveaway, demo, or game included with a subscription. Check for in-app purchases if that matters to you.
- Install before disconnecting. Download the full game and complete any required online setup or authentication while connected. Test offline access before depending on it where possible.
- Plan for missing online features. Multiplayer, cloud saves, achievements, updates, and other connected services may stop working offline. Decide whether the remaining single-player experience is enough for you.
What Epic’s Offline Mode does—and does not—promise
Epic’s Launcher support guidance says Offline Mode can start automatically when the device loses internet or the launcher starts offline. It applies only to supported single-player games that are already installed; not all games qualify. Online multiplayer, cloud saves, achievements, and other online services may be unavailable.
This is a launcher-specific explanation, not a guarantee for every Epic title or for games on other stores. Check the individual game’s requirements and publisher guidance before counting on offline access.

Compare candidates before you download
For a useful shortlist, compare the facts that affect whether a game will meet your needs:
- Offline evidence: Does the publisher or launcher explicitly confirm offline play? Is internet access needed for setup, first launch, or later sign-in?
- Windows 10 support: Does the game list Windows 10, and does your PC meet its hardware and storage requirements?
- Offer type and spending: Is it permanently free-to-play, a time-limited giveaway, a demo, or subscription-included? Are in-app purchases offered?
- Offline feature loss: Which parts remain available, and which depend on multiplayer servers, cloud saves, achievements, updates, or other connected services?
- Download and account needs: Which official store or publisher provides it? Do you need a launcher account, and can you complete installation and authentication while online?
A storefront category can help you discover games, but it cannot answer all of these questions. Verify Windows compatibility and offline behavior for the specific title before treating it as a dependable offline option.
