Historical schedule: Bungie scheduled Destiny 2: The Final Shape to launch and reopen login on June 4, 2024, at 10 AM PDT (17:00 UTC). That was the planned login time, not a guarantee that every player would connect immediately: queues and sign-on problems were expected while maintenance continued until noon PDT (19:00 UTC).
When did The Final Shape launch, and when were servers scheduled to return?
Bungie’s schedule set the expansion’s launch and scheduled login access for June 4, 2024, at 10 AM PDT (17:00 UTC). The maintenance window was expected to end at 12 PM PDT (19:00 UTC), so login was due to open two hours before background work was scheduled to finish. Bungie said players could encounter queues and sign-on issues during that period.
The times applied across platforms and regions for Update 8.0.0.1. They describe Bungie’s planned rollout; the schedule does not establish the exact time every player actually regained access. Bungie’s detailed maintenance timeline and its May 23 weekly update both warned of potential login queues.

All UTC times above are conversions of Bungie’s stated PDT times; PDT was UTC−7 on these dates. Bungie’s May 23 post described the downtime as “24 hours,” while its June 2 detailed notice was titled “25-Hour Maintenance Timeline.” Those descriptions refer to a planned window with distinct milestones: maintenance began at 9 AM on June 3, players were removed from activities at 9:30 AM, login was scheduled to reopen at 10 AM on June 4, and maintenance was expected to finish at noon. They should not be read as a measured, universal outage duration.

Could players log in exactly at 10 AM PDT?
That was the scheduled opening, but Bungie warned that some players could wait in a queue or encounter sign-on issues because background maintenance would still be underway. Bungie also expected queues during the first hours and local peak play times. The schedule does not say that every region or player experienced the same delay, nor does it document the exact time when access worked for everyone.

Bungie said Update 8.0.0.1 would be playable across all platforms and regions at the scheduled launch. The expansion launched on June 4, 2024; its launch guide also included platform-specific preload instructions. Steam’s listing states that the expansion requires the base game Destiny 2. These details are historical launch information, not a current server-status update. Bungie’s launch guide contains the release and preload guidance.
