What Update 8.0.0.1 changed
Bungie’s launch overview highlights changes to Power, the Vault, the HUD, Mementos, Exotic armor acquisition, shaders, and clan progression. These are navigation points, not an exhaustive transcription of every activity change, balance adjustment, and bug fix in the official patch notes.
- Power: Bungie announced a revamped Power system. Consult the full update notes for its launch rules and details.
- Vault: The available Vault space increased by 100, bringing the total to 700.
- HUD: Two channels were added to the heads-up display.
- Mementos: The Memento interface changed.
- Exotic armor: Rahool became the source for new Exotic armor pieces, with a new reputation rank.
- Shaders: Shader icons changed.
- Clan and vendor progression: Hawthorne’s vendor and clan progression changed.
Bungie described the broader sandbox work as covering weapons, armor, and abilities, and linked separate previews for major changes. For exact launch values and the full set of adjustments, use the official patch notes alongside those previews. The launch overview alone does not establish every value or change.
Salvation’s Edge raid timing
Bungie announced Salvation’s Edge for June 7, 2024, with Contest Mode active for the first 48 hours. Its launch overview recommended completing the campaign and the Wild Card Exotic quest before entering the raid for the best story experience. These were launch-period details, not current scheduling information.

Release and preload timing
Update 8.0.0.1 released June 4, 2024. Bungie’s maintenance timeline said preload began during the June 3 maintenance window and gave the expected completion timing for maintenance on June 4.

No. Update 8.0.0.1 records the game at The Final Shape launch in 2024; it does not describe the game’s later state. In its June 9, 2026 Update 9.7.0 notes, Bungie called that release its final major patch while saying smaller maintenance patches and hotfixes would still follow. Bungie then published Update 9.7.0.1 on June 16, 2026.
