How to launch Zero Hour
- Open the Director and go to Pinnacle Ops.
- Find Zero Hour in its respective Pinnacle Ops section and launch the activity. Bungie says the old Legends node was deprecated and that Exotic missions previously found there can be launched from their respective Pinnacle Ops sections; see the Update 9.7.0 notes and Destiny 2 Guide.
What Zero Hour rewards now
Completing Zero Hour awards the craftable Outbreak Perfected Exotic Pulse Rifle. Bungie’s current patch notes say the Exotic reward is granted on activity completion, so the old mission quest chain is no longer the route to claim it. The quests associated with the mission have been deprecated. Bungie Update 9.7.0 describes the current reward and quest status; Bungie introduced the reprised activity as a way to earn the craftable weapon in its May 9, 2024 weekly update.

Secrets, Triumphs, and the old quest instructions
Zero Hour’s secrets remain completable for their associated Triumphs, even though the mission quests have been deprecated. Treat those as separate things: old quest-based instructions may no longer apply to obtaining the weapon, while secret content still counts toward Triumphs. Bungie confirms the distinction in the June 2026 patch notes. The mission was reprised with updated puzzles and encounters, new rewards and Triumphs, and secrets on Legend, according to Bungie’s May 16, 2024 update.
Normal and Legend: what is confirmed about the timer
Bungie’s May 9, 2024 launch announcement gave Zero Hour time limits of 40 minutes on Normal and 20 minutes on Legend. Those are launch-era figures, not confirmed current limits: the June 2026 patch notes about the move to Pinnacle Ops do not restate them. Check the activity interface before you begin rather than relying on an older guide for the live timer. The original figures appear in Bungie’s May 9, 2024 weekly update.

Bungie’s official material also identifies additional secrets on Legend, but does not establish a complete current comparison of enemy difficulty, puzzle steps, or loadout recommendations. Choose the difficulty based on the live activity options and your group’s goal; do not assume a launch-era timer or an old quest guide describes every current detail.

The official sources establish Zero Hour’s current launch location, reward behavior, quest status, and continuing Triumph secrets, but they do not provide a reliable room-by-room route or exact solutions for its traversal, TR3-VR corridor, symbol or vault puzzles, chests, or boss mechanics. Those steps should be checked against the live mission or a verified dedicated walkthrough; guessing a route or puzzle sequence risks sending a fireteam into a timed activity with incorrect instructions.
