Bungie’s latest confirmed major Destiny 2 update is Update 9.7.0, released June 9, 2026. Bungie described it as the game’s final major patch and said planned live-service content updates would end with it. That does not rule out future maintenance patches or stability hotfixes, but the official sources cited here do not confirm a newer October 2026 update.

The distinction matters: Bungie has not said the game can never receive another patch. Its support guide says, “While we are not planning new updates to Destiny 2, we may need to release a hotfix in the future for the health and stability of the game.” The Destiny 2 Team likewise noted that maintenance patches and smaller hotfixes could follow the final major patch.

Other gameplay and interface changes
Bungie’s release notes also cover changes to activities, menus, Vault features and other game systems, alongside gameplay, user-interface and quality-of-life adjustments. The full 9.7.0 patch notes document the individual changes. Bungie characterized those notes as “over 17,000 words”; that is the studio’s description of the notes, not an independently measured count.
Is Destiny 2 still getting updates?
Not planned live-service content updates, according to Bungie’s support guide. Bungie’s May 21, 2026 announcement said the final live-service content update would arrive on June 9 and that Destiny 2 would remain playable after active development concluded. The studio has left open the possibility of later maintenance patches or hotfixes for game health and stability.

Is there a new Destiny 2 update today?
The official sources cited here confirm 9.7.0 as the final major patch, but they do not establish that a newer October 2026 update has been released. Bungie’s official news index lists follow-up entries including 9.7.0.2, dated June 23, 2026, and 9.7.0.3, dated July 7, 2026; those entries do not by themselves verify an October release. Check Bungie’s Destiny 2 news page or dated patch notes for confirmation of any later update.
