It launched worldwide for iOS and Android on August 28, 2025. It is a separate game—not a mobile port of Destiny 2—and combines shooter combat with playable heroes, character abilities, gear progression, campaign missions, cooperative strikes and competitive modes.
What is Destiny: Rising?
Destiny: Rising is a shared-world sci-fi RPG shooter developed and published by NetEase Games under license from Bungie. Its story takes place in an alternate Destiny timeline in the post-Dark Age, as humanity tries to rebuild after the Collapse and a new generation of Lightbearers emerges. The setting connects it to the broader Destiny universe, but the game is its own mobile title rather than a version of Destiny 2 for phones. NetEase’s launch announcement describes the game and its relationship to the franchise.
NetEase introduced the project in October 2024 as a mobile game with single-player, cooperative and competitive play. At the announcement, NetEase senior vice president Ethan Wang called it a partnership to bring a “Destiny-caliber experience” to mobile; Bungie creative lead Terry Redfield described it as a new take on the universe from NetEase’s creative team. Those are statements from the companies involved, not independent evaluations of the game.
How does the gameplay work?
The game combines shooter combat with a roster of characters that have distinct abilities and stories, alongside weapons and gear. Players can switch between first-person and third-person views, and the launch feature description includes campaign missions, six-player co-op strikes, replayable PvE and PvP activities, clans, party modes and customizable shared spaces. NetEase also describes exotic weapons that players can customize. These are publisher-described features, not a guarantee that every activity or system is unchanged in later updates. Characters and gear
Launch-era materials describe a customizable Wolf Lightbearer alongside familiar Destiny characters, including Ikora Rey and Iron Lord Jolder. They also describe weapons usable across compatible character arsenals and a Mythic gear rarity. Because those details come from pre-launch coverage, check current in-game information or official updates if a specific character, rarity or equipment rule matters to your decision. NetEase’s July 2025 gameplay announcement provides that earlier description.
Where can you play it?
The worldwide mobile launch was August 28, 2025, on iOS and Android. The official site also lists PC emulator access; that means playing through an emulator, not a native PC edition. Availability and current download links are listed on the official Destiny: Rising site.

The launch FAQ said iOS and Android players could cross-play, but only with players on the same regional server; it said cross-server play was unavailable. That answer dates from August 2025, so check current regional announcements if you are organizing play across regions. Read the official global launch FAQ.
What devices and controls does it support?
Device guidance
The August 2025 FAQ listed Android devices with Snapdragon 835 or MediaTek Dimensity 700 or better, iPhone 7 or newer, and 15 GB of storage for Android and iPhone. These are launch-era recommendations and may no longer reflect current store requirements or the space needed for later updates. Check the relevant App Store or Google Play listing before installing. Touchscreen and controller play
Touchscreen play is supported, and NetEase says most Bluetooth controllers compatible with a player’s device should work. Compatibility depends on the phone or tablet and the controller pairing; the FAQ does not endorse a particular model. NetEase’s site recommends portrait mode. The official site and launch FAQ describe the available control options.
Is Destiny: Rising free?
NetEase identifies Destiny: Rising as free-to-play. The official site links to a top-up center, but the available official materials cited here do not establish current purchase prices or enough detail to describe the full monetization model. Don’t assume that a particular item or activity requires—or avoids—a purchase without checking current in-game information.

How current is its live-service information?
Destiny: Rising is an actively updated game: the official site displayed “Weekly Patch Notes 1008,” dated October 7, 2026, and a maintenance notice scheduled to begin October 8, 2026, at 03:00 UTC−7. That notice establishes a particular maintenance window, not a permanent schedule. Check the official site and regional announcements for current maintenance times, features and events. NetEase’s August 2025 launch blog described seasons updating every two months and new character content arriving every four weeks; that was roadmap language at launch, not confirmation of the cadence in October 2026. Check the official site for current notices and the launch blog for its dated roadmap statement.
