Capcom describes Devil May Cry 5 as a stylish-action game. Capcom reported more than 2 million units shipped globally less than two weeks after launch, as of March 20, 2019; this is a shipment figure, not a consumer-sales count. Capcom later reported more than 2.7 million units shipped worldwide as of September 30, 2019. On June 13, 2025, the company announced that cumulative worldwide sales had exceeded 10 million. These figures describe different milestones and measures, so the 2019 shipment totals should not be presented as equivalent to the later cumulative-sales figure.
