Devotion did get a limited physical PC release in Taiwan in 2020, but it is not a new or currently available edition. Red Candle Games says physical copies are no longer available. The studio’s e-shop currently lists the game as a DRM-free digital download.
What happened to Devotion’s physical edition?
Red Candle Games’ limited physical PC edition was released in Taiwan in 2020. Contemporary coverage described a higher-priced option bundled with the official soundtrack CD and reported that the release was not available to Western customers. GameSpot’s report on the edition covers those release details.
That was a past, limited release—not a new launch. In a support response dated February 11, 2025, Red Candle Games said, “I am afraid that the physical copy of Devotion is no longer available.” The studio added that it was exploring possibilities for international players, but made no promise of a future edition; it said updates would be shared on its social channels. Can you buy Devotion now?
The studio’s e-shop currently lists Devotion as a DRM-free digital game. Red Candle’s Steam FAQ identifies the e-shop as the only channel to purchase the game. That is a digital download, not a replacement physical edition, and store availability can change. Check the official Devotion listing.

The official soundtrack is also offered separately as a digital download. Its listing specifies 15 tracks; it is not the CD included with the historical physical bundle. See the official soundtrack listing.
Is Devotion coming back to Steam or other platforms?
Red Candle Games says it has no plan to release Devotion on other platforms “at this moment,” citing its team’s limited resources. Its Steam FAQ likewise says there is no plan for a Steam re-release and no Steam redeem key. These are the studio’s current statements, not a guarantee that its plans can never change. Why did Devotion become controversial?
Devotion is a first-person atmospheric horror game about a family living under the shadow of religious belief, according to Red Candle Games’ official press kit. Its unusual release history followed the game’s 2019 removal from Steam amid controversy over in-game imagery that some players perceived as mocking Chinese president Xi Jinping. That describes the public reaction, not an established statement of the game’s intended message. Contemporary coverage of the removal and controversy is available from The Verge.
