Gathering Legions—usually called Legion Events—are timed, multiplayer activities at rotating locations across Sanctuary. Use the event marker and countdown on the in-game map to find the next gathering and judge when to travel; the event itself pairs a timed mastery objective with a boss encounter.
What is a Gathering Legion in Diablo 4?
A Gathering Legion is a timed world event where players take on groups of monsters and then face an event boss. Locations rotate around Sanctuary, so there is no single permanent venue. The in-game map alert is the most reliable way to see where the next event is happening and how soon it starts.

How to find a Legion Event and arrive on time
- Open the world map. Look for the active Legion Event marker and its countdown.
- Travel to the displayed location. Give yourself time to reach the event before it begins; do not rely on a fixed schedule from an external site.
- Check the map again if plans change. The live game client should take precedence over third-party trackers, whose timers or location information can be outdated.
Historical Blizzard patch notes record that the interval between Legion Events was reduced from 30 minutes to 25 minutes and that warning timers increased from 5 to 10 minutes. Those are patch-era changes, not confirmation of the live cadence in October 2026. Wowhead’s timer page, crawled approximately three weeks before October 8, 2026, describes a 30-minute timer, which conflicts with the older official patch record. How to complete the event
Finish the timed mastery objective
When the event starts, work through its timed objective by defeating the required monsters. The timer matters: Wowhead’s event timer page says chest outcomes vary according to whether the timed mastery is completed. The available information does not establish current mastery thresholds or a complete reward table, so check the objective and reward indicators shown in the game rather than assuming a particular threshold.

Defeat the event boss
After the objective phase, defeat the boss before the event ends to complete the gathering. Move promptly between targets and contribute damage when you can. Blizzard’s patch-era note on a monster-health adjustment explained: “We have received feedback that players don’t often fight monsters during Legion Events because of the monsters dying too quickly.” That describes the reason for a historical adjustment, not a guarantee about current enemy health or event difficulty.
What rewards should you expect?
Completing the timed mastery objective affects the event chest outcome, according to Wowhead’s timer page, but a verified current list of chest contents and mastery tiers is not established here. Blizzard’s Diablo IV patch notes (1.0–1.2) documented a 75% increase to Legion Event completion experience and guaranteed Legendary item drops starting at level 35 under the rules of that patch. These are historical balance notes, not a promise that the same experience bonus or level-based Legendary guarantee applies in October 2026. Use the live event UI for current reward information.

Whispers and event prerequisites: what is confirmed?
An older Blizzard patch note said every Legion Event would have an associated Whisper objective. A secondary guide says access to Legion Events unlocks after completing the campaign or choosing a campaign skip, via unlocking the Tree of Whispers. Neither source confirms that these are universal current rules in October 2026. If you are unsure whether the activity is available or has a Whisper objective, check the current game map and quest interface.
