Please try again later,” first check Blizzard’s current known-issue notices and PlayStation Network status. If neither indicates a service problem, close and relaunch the game, then restart the console if needed. These steps may help, but they are not confirmed fixes: the error has been reported as PS5 code WS-117306-8, and the available reports do not establish its technical cause.
What the error means—and what is known
A player reported the exact message alongside code WS-117306-8 in a Blizzard-hosted Diablo IV console forum post on June 1, 2023. That documents an association between the message and the code; it does not explain the code or prove that Blizzard’s servers imposed a request limit. The wording alone is not enough to identify whether the problem is with PSN, Diablo IV login services, or the console’s connection.
At Diablo IV’s June 2023 launch, players also described login queues and license errors. Some said restarting or retrying brought them to a queue, while others continued to have trouble. Those are individual reports, not evidence that the same cause or outcome applies to every player. A separate September 2026 PS5 report concerned error 315306 and a license problem after a patch; it is a different code and does not confirm a current WS-117306-8 incident.
Try these steps in order
- Check service and known-issue information. Review PlayStation Network service status and Blizzard’s Diablo IV technical support thread for current announcements. A status page reflects what it reports at the time you check; it cannot rule out every temporary or account-specific problem.
- Close and relaunch Diablo IV. Exit the game, start it again, and see whether the message changes or you reach a login queue. A third-party guide recommends relaunching, and launch-period players reported mixed results from retrying. Treat this as a quick troubleshooting attempt, not a guaranteed fix.
- Restart the PS5 once if relaunching does not help. Restart the console, then try the game again. A third-party guide recommends a restart, but community reports do not show consistent results.
- Check whether the issue affects other online services. If other services work and only Diablo IV fails, focus on Blizzard’s game notices and allow time before trying again rather than assuming you need new network hardware. If multiple online services fail or the PS5 connection seems unstable, test the console’s network connection and, if available, try Ethernet. A June 2023 third-party guide suggests a wired connection as a diagnostic; it does not establish that Ethernet resolves this error.
- Contact Blizzard support if the problem persists. Include the exact error text and code, what you were doing when it appeared, your console, and the troubleshooting steps you already tried. Blizzard’s support thread asks players to provide this context and points to official support resources.
How to tell a game login problem from a local connection problem
- PSN status shows a service issue: Wait for the reported issue to clear and check status again before changing console or router settings.
- PSN appears available, but Diablo IV alone fails: Check Blizzard announcements and note whether you see a queue or a separate license message. These symptoms may overlap, but the reports do not establish that they have the same cause.
- Several online services fail, or the connection is unstable: Test the PS5’s connection. If practical, compare Wi-Fi with a wired connection to see whether the local connection behaves differently. This is a diagnostic check, not evidence that the error is caused by your network.
What not to assume
Do not treat WS-117306-8 as proof of a Blizzard server-side rate limit, or assume that a successful restart, license restoration, or network change is a known fix. The reports do not establish those conclusions. Likewise, the fact that a different PS5 login error was reported in 2026 does not show that WS-117306-8 is currently widespread.
