If the Diablo IV Open Beta kept crashing on your PC, there was no single confirmed fix for every player. Start with Blizzard’s March 2023 known-issues updates, identify when the crash happened, then use Blizzard’s PC troubleshooting guidance and collect diagnostic details if the problem persists. The beta was an unfinished, time-limited test, so its workarounds should not be treated as current advice for the retail game.
First, check whether the crash matched a known beta issue
Blizzard’s Open Beta known-issues thread was updated through March 25, 2023. It noted that performance optimization was still ongoing, particularly for older hardware. It also listed a Windows 11 fullscreen crash when alt-tabbing, then removed that item after a patch the night before the March 25 update. That is a dated beta-specific issue, not evidence that alt-tabbing causes crashes in every version of Diablo IV. Read Blizzard’s Open Beta known-issues thread.
Blizzard described the beta as unfinished and warned that players could encounter performance issues, outages, and features that did not work. Check the dated issue thread and BlizzardCS updates before changing settings; an issue tied to a particular build may already have been addressed. BlizzardCS on X.
Route troubleshooting by what happened
Different symptoms do not point to one shared cause. Note whether the game closed during launch, crashed during play, failed after alt-tabbing, or caused the whole PC to freeze or restart. Also record whether the problem happened before or after a beta patch. The official beta sources do not establish one safe fix for all of these cases.

Compare your PC with the Open Beta requirements
These are Blizzard’s published specifications for the 2023 Open Beta, not a diagnosis of an individual crash. Blizzard warned that hardware below minimum requirements could significantly diminish the experience. Meeting the listed requirements does not, by itself, establish why a particular PC crashed.

Blizzard’s Open Beta guide also says the test covered early-game content. Early Access ran March 17–20, 2023, and the Open Beta ran March 24–27, 2023. These dates and specifications describe that beta, not a guarantee about the requirements or support status of a later client. Blizzard’s Open Beta guide.
Gather details before contacting support
If the crash continues, Blizzard asks players seeking technical help to include a DxDiag report, troubleshooting already attempted, what they were doing when the problem occurred, and any error messages. Include the crash stage and whether the issue began before or after a beta patch; those details help distinguish a launch failure, an in-game crash, an alt-tab issue, or a system-wide lockup. Use the technical-issues index to reach Blizzard’s support resources.

Optional: create a more detailed beta crash log
Blizzard’s March 2023 beta instructions describe temporary logging flags for reproducing a problem. Use the flag matching your GPU vendor, not both. Blizzard warns that enabling the flags hurts performance, so turn them off again for normal play. These instructions are specifically for the beta and may not apply to later clients.
