Diablo IV’s Season of the Construct launched on January 23, 2024, taking players beneath Kehjistan to confront Malphas and his corrupted Loom. Its defining features were the Seneschal Companion, hazard-filled Vaults, and the risk-and-reward system of Zoltun’s Warding. Blizzard also announced The Gauntlet for later in the season, alongside several quality-of-life updates.
What was Season of the Construct?
Season of the Construct was Diablo IV’s third season. Blizzard announced it as a seasonal story set beneath the deserts of Kehjistan, where the demon Malphas had corrupted the Loom, ancient technology associated with Zoltun Kulle. Ayuzhan of Caldeum guided players through the questline as they fought Constructs and tried to stop Malphas. The season began January 23, 2024, at 10 a.m. PST, according to Blizzard’s announcement.

Season of the Construct is historical content, not Diablo IV’s current season. A Blizzard patch-note result dated September 30, 2026 names the later Season of Hell’s Legacy. The available sources do not establish whether every Construct-season quest or activity remains playable in a current mode; check the game’s current seasonal and Eternal Realm content rather than assuming availability.
How did the Seneschal Companion work?
The seasonal questline awarded a robotic companion called the Seneschal. Blizzard described it as a helper that could either fight directly or support the player from the sidelines. Its behavior was configured using two kinds of stones:

- Governing Stones: Set the Seneschal’s attacks.
- Tuning Stones: Modified or augmented those skills.
Players could equip two Governing Stones and six Tuning Stones. Blizzard listed 12 Governing Stones and 27 Tuning Stones in its announcement. Stones came from Vault activities and other seasonal rewards, and duplicate stones could be fused to level them up. The intended build choice was to match an attack with enhancements that suited the player’s needs—for example, emphasizing direct damage or a supportive role—rather than treating one combination as universally best.
What were Vaults in Diablo 4?
Vaults were specialized dungeons accessed from the Gatehall, a new underground town in Kehjistan. They combined elemental hazards with the season’s Constructs, a new monster family. Nightmare Vaults unlocked at World Tier III, Blizzard said.
Zoltun’s Warding and Vault rewards
At a Vault entrance, players could spend Pearls of Warding to receive Zoltun’s Warding, a blessing represented by stacks. Hazards consumed stacks as players moved through the dungeon. Keeping the blessing intact through the Vault Boss unlocked a Wardwoven Chest, which Blizzard said had a higher chance of Legendary items.

Players could spend additional Pearls at the entrance to gain more ward stacks, increasing both the protection available and the challenge of preserving it through the Vault. The core decision was whether to risk more stacks against the dungeon’s hazards for the chance to open the special chest.

Arcane Tremors brought Constructs and hazards into the overworld. Defeating Constructs could yield Shattered Stone, while Elite Constructs granted Pearls of Warding. Shattered Stone could be taken to Jewelers to craft Governing and Tuning Stones, creating an overworld route to improve the Seneschal as well as a reason to enter Vaults.

The Gauntlet was announced as a fixed dungeon with weekly rotations, leaderboards, and a Hall of the Ancients recognizing the top weekly scores. Blizzard said it would arrive later in the season, so it was not a day-one feature. What other changes and rewards did Blizzard announce?
Blizzard’s season announcement listed these quality-of-life updates for Season of the Construct:
- Helltides would run almost constantly, with a five-minute rest once each hour.
- PC players could move with W-A-S-D.
- An additional stash tab would be available to purchase.
- Other changes covered respecs, the gold-trading interface, and Beast in the Ice summoning materials.
These are features announced for that season; the announcement alone does not establish their behavior or availability in the current game.

Season Journey rewards included Legendary Aspects, Awoken Adamant armor, and three Scrolls of Amnesia for free Skill Tree and Paragon Board resets. Blizzard announced a 90-tier Battle Pass, divided into 28 free tiers and 62 premium tiers.
