Should you play it?
It is a good fit if…
- You enjoy a deliberate action-RPG loop built around finding loot and developing a character over time.
- You want the original game’s structure with remastered presentation, and you are comfortable learning older interface conventions.
- You are a returning player who wants to try the Warlock and the expansion’s endgame additions in the Infernal Edition.
Think twice if…
- You expect modern onboarding, streamlined inventory management, or a contemporary interface. The faithful approach retains older conventions rather than redesigning them.
- You need a game whose appeal depends on a steady flow of ongoing content. One positive review noted that the game remains compelling without the service-game hooks, but that is not the same as promising a continuing content cadence.
Which platform and edition should you choose?
The most straightforward current edition described by the Steam listing is Infernal Edition, which bundles the remaster, Lord of Destruction, and Reign of the Warlock. Confirm the contents of the listing for your chosen store and platform before purchasing.

- The Diablo Prime Evil Collection includes Diablo II: Resurrected, Diablo III, the Reaper of Souls expansion which includes Act V, Adventure Mode and the Crusader class, and the Rise of the Necromancer pack, with the Necromancer class, and additional cosmetic items. This collection also includes the Mephisto pet and the fearsome wings, Hatred’s Grasp, for Diablo III.
Verdict
Diablo II: Resurrected is still an appealing choice for players drawn to classic loot-driven action RPGs, and the Infernal Edition gives the 2026 release a substantial new reason to return. Its favorable critic reception belongs to the remaster, while the expansion is a separate addition; the most important buying question is whether you enjoy the original’s deliberately preserved design as much as its updated presentation.
