The $51 million claim is not verified by the available evidence: the article carrying that headline does not identify the game or explain where the figure came from. A separate tracker estimates Fate/Grand Order’s mobile revenue at $41.3 million for August 2026, but that does not establish that Fate/Grand Order is the game in the headline—or that it earned $51 million.
What does the $51 million headline actually establish?
The indexed article from Position is Everything repeats the $51 million claim but does not name the game or provide a source, methodology, geography, platform scope, or accounting basis for the amount. Without those details, it is not possible to verify which game the headline refers to or what “earned” means. Position is Everything’s article is indexed as published May 15, 2026.
That distinction matters: player spending in mobile app stores is not the same as a publisher’s net receipts, and mobile-only estimates do not necessarily include a game’s PC, console, or web-shop revenue.
What the August 2026 figures say
Two sources offer relevant but differently scoped evidence. Sensor Tower’s report covers worldwide mobile-game performance, while GachaDash publishes estimates of mobile revenue for individual games. Neither confirms a $51 million total for an unnamed ten-year-old gacha game.

| Source and measure | August 2026 finding | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| Sensor Tower: highest-grossing mobile game worldwide | Honor of Kings | Total-revenue leadership, not revenue growth. |
| Sensor Tower: worldwide revenue-growth ranking | Fate/Grand Order ranked first; the report says it recorded its highest monthly revenue of 2026, driven primarily by Japan. | A growth ranking is not the same as the highest total-revenue ranking. Sensor Tower links the activity to the game’s eleventh-anniversary and summer events. |
| GachaDash: estimated mobile revenue | Fate/Grand Order: $41.3 million; Genshin Impact: $38.4 million | Third-party estimates, not audited receipts or total revenue across all platforms. |
Sensor Tower also estimates that worldwide consumer spending across the App Store and Google Play was $6.57 billion in August 2026, down 1% month over month. It attributes 28.6% of mobile-game revenue that month to the United States, 16.7% to China (iOS only), and 12.2% to Japan. Those market-wide figures provide context; they do not identify the game or validate the headline’s $51 million.
Why revenue estimates may differ
Platform coverage
GachaDash labels its game figures mobile-only. The broader methodology described by gacha.gg’s revenue tracker likewise estimates App Store and Google Play spending and excludes PC, console, and publisher web-shop sales. A mobile estimate therefore should not be presented as a game’s all-platform revenue.

Regional estimates
GachaDash says it estimates China Android revenue by multiplying China iOS revenue by 1.75. That is a modeling assumption, not a direct count of all player spending in China. Regional coverage and estimation methods can affect a tracker’s total.
Spending versus publisher earnings
The gacha.gg methodology describes its figures as store spending before store commissions. That is not the same as the amount received by a publisher after commissions or other deductions. A claim that a game “earned” a sum should identify whether it means player spending, publisher receipts, or another financial measure.

Is the game Fate/Grand Order?
That is plausible as a guess, but it is not established. Sensor Tower says Fate/Grand Order’s eleventh-anniversary activity coincided with its strongest monthly revenue of 2026, and GachaDash estimates $41.3 million in mobile revenue for August. But the headline article does not name the game, and the tracker’s number is not $51 million. The anniversary clue cannot prove the identity or measurement basis behind the headline.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to assess the claim
- Look for the named game: the headline article’s indexed text does not provide one.
- Check the metric: distinguish total revenue rank from revenue growth, and player spending from publisher receipts.
- Check the scope: confirm whether the figure covers app stores only or also PC, console, web shops, and other channels.
- Check the period and geography: a monthly figure needs a year and a defined market.
- Check the method: identify whether regional totals are observed or modeled, as with GachaDash’s stated China Android multiplier.
On the evidence available, the precise $51 million claim remains unverified. The better-supported August 2026 data point for Fate/Grand Order is GachaDash’s mobile-only estimate of $41.3 million, while Sensor Tower separately reports that the game led its worldwide revenue-growth ranking.
