The accessory maker initially fueled speculation that it had access to the hardware, but later accounts said its products were based on industry leaks and speculation. Nintendo called the images and videos unofficial. The real Switch 2 launched on June 5, 2025, so the CES appearance is best understood as a pre-reveal mockup story—not a verified hardware leak.
What Genki showed at CES 2025
In January 2025, accessory company Genki displayed a console-shaped replica alongside concepts for accessories, including a dock and controllers. Nintendo had not yet officially revealed the Switch 2, and the display prompted the question of whether the model was based on hardware Genki had seen or was simply an informed guess. Contemporary coverage described the appearance and the claims surrounding it.
Early accounts relayed claims that Genki had access to a real device. A later interview, reported January 10, described the company as saying its products drew on industry leaks and speculation and that it had not seen the real console. Those accounts are not the same: the initial suggestion helped frame the display as a possible leak, while the later position did not establish hands-on access.
Was the CES model an official or authentic Switch 2?
No public evidence cited here establishes that Genki’s mockup was an authentic retail console. Nintendo’s statement, as reported by Nintendo Life, was direct: “the images and videos are not official.” That rules out treating Genki’s display as Nintendo’s reveal, but it does not prove that every visible detail was wrong or verify how closely the mockup matched the eventual hardware.

The careful distinction is between an unofficial mockup and a confirmed leak. Genki showed a Switch 2-shaped object before Nintendo’s announcement; the available accounts do not establish that the object was a production console or that Genki had physically inspected one.
Nintendo’s lawsuit and the reported settlement
In May 2025, Nintendo sued Genki, alleging trademark infringement and related violations tied to the company’s mockups, renderings and marketing. Nintendo’s complaint, quoted by Nintendo Life, said Genki “demoed and promoted unauthorized purported mockups and renderings of the Nintendo Switch 2 and its accessories.” Those are allegations made in a complaint, not findings by a court. The lawsuit report provides the reported claims.

In September 2025, the parties were reported to have reached a confidential settlement. The public reporting cited here does not give the settlement amount or full terms, so neither can be stated as fact. The settlement report describes the outcome.
