No confirmed Nintendo Switch 2 price leak came from Costco. A February 2025 report described a Canadian Costco placeholder listing at CAD $499.99, but the person who posted it said the product might not be Switch 2 and the price might itself be a placeholder. Nintendo’s later U.S. prices were announced separately—and the U.S. system price changed in 2026.
What did the alleged Costco listing show?
On February 10, 2025, Nintendo Life reported on images attributed to a Famiboards post. The images were said to show a Costco Canada internal “Nintendo Switch” placeholder priced at CAD $499.99. The poster cautioned that it might not be a Switch 2 listing and that the amount could be a placeholder price.

That makes CAD $499.99 an unverified Canadian listing figure, not a confirmed Nintendo Switch 2 MSRP. The images have not been independently authenticated in the sources reviewed, and no Costco confirmation or authenticated listing SKU was established. The report documents what was claimed, not proof that Costco had a final Switch 2 price.
How does the listing compare with Nintendo’s official U.S. prices?
Nintendo’s April 18, 2025 U.S. pricing announcement set different prices for the standalone console and a game bundle. Nintendo of America later revised the U.S. system MSRP, effective September 1, 2026.

| Reported Costco Canada placeholder, February 2025 | CAD $499.99 | Unverified rumor; product identity and price were uncertain. |

| Standalone Nintendo Switch 2, revised U.S. MSRP effective September 1, 2026 | US $499.99 | Nintendo of America’s revised U.S. system price. The notice says the change responds to market conditions expected to extend over the medium to long term. |
Nintendo’s April 18, 2025 pricing notice establishes the U.S. launch figures. The later revision was reported in a WebWire reproduction of a Nintendo of America notice. These are U.S. manufacturer-suggested prices and do not verify the earlier Canadian listing.
Did the later $499.99 price prove the rumor was right?
No. The later U.S. standalone system MSRP is also $499.99, but it is a different figure in a different currency and market, announced on a different timeline. The matching digits do not establish that the Costco Canada placeholder was authentic, that it referred to Switch 2, or that it predicted Nintendo’s U.S. price.

What should buyers know about Switch 2 storage?
Nintendo lists 256GB of internal storage for Switch 2. For additional storage, the console uses microSD Express cards; an ordinary microSD card is not the specified expansion-card type. Nintendo’s product information also says Switch 2 can play compatible physical and digital games released for the original Nintendo Switch, while warning that some titles may not be supported or fully compatible.
