Blizzard confirmed that Diablo IV’s Elixir of Antivenin was granting significantly more health than intended and documented a fix on November 20, 2024. Days later, Elon Musk posted a fast Pit-clear clip that prompted speculation the bug could have helped his Spiritborn build. The available reporting does not establish that he used the bug, or independently verify the run as a world record.
What prompted the suspicion
On November 22, 2024, Ashley Bardhan reported for Futurism that Musk had shared a clip described as clearing Diablo IV’s Pit in about one minute and fifty seconds. The story called it a potential record; it did not establish that the time had been independently verified or adjudicated.

The report also described online speculation that Elixir of Antivenin’s unintended health increase might benefit a Spiritborn build that scaled damage with health. It noted that damage numbers were hidden in the clip. Neither that detail nor the build theory establishes that the bug was active during the run or explains why the numbers were hidden.

What Blizzard confirmed
Blizzard’s official Diablo IV patch notes for build 59901, dated November 20, 2024, state: “Fixed an issue where the Elixir of Antivenin granted significantly more health than intended.” Blizzard said the fix would go live a few hours after the client patch and in a coinciding server hotfix.

This is direct confirmation of an unintended health increase and its remediation. The notes do not mention Musk, his build, or the Pit clip.
Did Musk use the exploit?
The cited reporting and patch notes do not prove that he did. The bug’s recent fix makes the suspicion plausible as a matter of timing, but chronology alone is not evidence that the elixir was used in the recorded run. The Spiritborn damage-scaling explanation is a theory reported around the allegation, not proof about this particular clip.
