No: Larian did not announce Divinity: Original Sin 3 at The Game Awards 2025. Before the show, the studio said it had no current plans for that specific sequel. At the event on 12 December 2025, it revealed a different game, titled Divinity, set in Rivellon. The reveal answered what the mysterious statue was teasing, but it did not make the new game an Original Sin sequel.
What Larian said before The Game Awards
On 9 December 2025, Larian publishing director Michael Douse addressed speculation that a mysterious statue associated with The Game Awards was teasing Divinity: Original Sin 3. He said: “There aren’t currently any plans for a new Divinity: Original Sin 3 game but once we are ready to show what we’ve been working on we will.” GameSpot reported the statement.
The wording was specific and time-qualified: Larian said it had no current plans for a new Original Sin 3. It did not say the studio was finished with the broader Divinity universe.
What Larian revealed at The Game Awards
On 12 December 2025, Larian announced a new game called Divinity, with a trailer shown at The Game Awards. The studio describes it as a game set in Rivellon and its most ambitious title yet. The official announcement says newcomers do not need experience with earlier Larian games, while players familiar with Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin 2 can appreciate the continuity.

Larian founder and game director Swen Vincke put the naming distinction plainly: “Despite our long history with the series, this is our first game entitled ‘Divinity.’” The announced title is Divinity, not Divinity: Original Sin 3.
Is the new Divinity game the same thing as Original Sin 3?
No. The two names refer to different things: Divinity is the newly announced game, while Divinity: Original Sin 3 was the rumored sequel that Douse said Larian had no current plans to make. The new game’s setting in Rivellon establishes a connection to the wider series, but the announcement does not identify it as a direct Original Sin 2 sequel.

Why fans connected the statue to Divinity
The statue prompted theories about what The Game Awards might reveal, and reporting on a European trademark application for “Divinity” added to the speculation. But the filing alone did not establish a connection to the statue, Larian, or Divinity: Original Sin. Kotaku’s 9 December report made that limitation clear. Larian’s later announcement supplied the answer: the game revealed was called Divinity.

The announcement established the game’s name, setting, and reveal; it did not say that the game was available to buy. Players wanting to revisit Rivellon in the meantime can look to Larian’s catalog, which lists Divinity: Original Sin II. Larian’s games catalog is the studio’s official reference for its existing titles.
