The distinction matters if you are deciding what the chapter includes: Rick and Michonne are characters you can select as Survivors, while Daryl is a cosmetic representation tied to Rick. The developer explains that Legendary Outfits use an existing character and do not provide unique perks in its Walking Dead collection announcement.

When did The Walking Dead chapter release, and what is included?
The Dead by Daylight: The Walking Dead chapter released July 29, 2025, adding Rick and Michonne as Survivors. The official chapter listing describes the character additions, while the official DLC page says the add-on requires the base game and lists the exclusive Sheriff’s Hat (Badge) and Tank In Ruins (Banner).

A temporary Player Test Build issue caused Michonne to be unavailable for selection during that test. The developer’s July 8, 2025 announcement said the issue was expected to be resolved with update 9.1.0; it was not an omission from the released chapter.
What are Rick and Michonne’s perks?
The following mechanics and tier values are from the official 9.1.0 patch notes, dated September 26, 2025. They describe that version of the game; perk tuning can change in later updates.

Rick Grimes
- Apocalyptic Ingenuity: After unlocking or rummaging through two chests, Rick can spend four seconds beside a broken pallet to build a fragile pallet. The perk shows broken-pallet auras within 24, 28 or 32 meters, depending on perk tier. A dropped fragile pallet is destroyed.
- Come and Get Me!: After unhooking a Survivor, Rick can crouch and remain idle to conceal nearby injured and dying Survivors’ scratch marks, blood pools and pain grunts for 10, 12.5 or 15 seconds, by tier. Rick’s own scream and aura reveal him for five seconds.
- Teamwork: Toughen Up: If another Survivor pallet-stuns or blinds the Killer while Rick is injured and within 24 meters, Rick’s grunts, scratch marks and blood pools are fully suppressed for 20, 25 or 30 seconds, by tier.
Michonne
- Conviction: After healing a Survivor, if Michonne is downed with at least 25% recovery progress, she can instantly recover. She then becomes Broken and is downed again after 20, 25 or 30 seconds, by tier.
- Last Stand: After spending 120, 105 or 90 seconds in the Killer’s Terror Radius while not in chase, Michonne can stun the Killer for three seconds with a fast vault if the Killer is within 2.5 meters. The perk then disables for the rest of the trial.
- Teamwork: Throw Down: When Michonne pallet-stuns or blinds the Killer, other injured Survivors within 24 meters gain Endurance and see the Killer’s aura for 6, 8 or 10 seconds, by tier.
Does the chapter require the base game?
Yes. The official DLC listing says the chapter requires Dead by Daylight to play. It is digital game content, not a standalone game. Check the official game or platform store for current price and regional availability; the cited listings do not establish a universal price or whether every cosmetic is currently available in every region.
