No—not as a complete shutdown of Rockstar’s account and online-game services. Rockstar said in May 2024 that Social Club had been renamed Rockstar Games and its services integrated into the main Rockstar Games site. The dedicated Social Club website and some community features changed later, but those changes are distinct from ending game authentication or online play.
What happened to Rockstar Games Social Club?
On May 20, 2024, Rockstar Games Customer Support described a rebrand and integration, not the termination of all Social Club services. The company said Social Club services had been incorporated into the main Rockstar Games site and that the Social Club ID had become the Rockstar Games ID. Rockstar’s notice said: “There is no action required from you, and services will continue to function without disruption.” Rockstar’s support notice says existing user IDs and passwords could still be used.
A separate website change was reported on July 16, 2025. GamesRadar reported that the Social Club URL redirected to Rockstar’s homepage after features including profile viewing, wall feeds, and photo and video discovery disappeared. That report concerns the dedicated website and its community-facing features; it does not establish that Rockstar account authentication or its online games shut down. Rockstar has not established in the cited sources why those features changed or whether they will return.
Can you still log in to your Rockstar account?
For the 2024 rebrand, Rockstar said players did not need to take action and could keep using their existing login credentials. The change was to the service’s name and integration into the main Rockstar Games site, rather than a requirement to create a new account.

Is GTA Online still working?
Rockstar’s Service Status page listed GTA Online, Red Dead Online, account authentication, and the Rockstar Games Launcher as operational at 1:07 PM UTC on October 8, 2026. This is a timestamped status snapshot; service status can change, and it does not confirm that every former Social Club website feature remains available. Check the status page if you are troubleshooting a current connection problem.
What happened to Social Club profiles and photos?
The 2025 report described the disappearance of some community features, including profile viewing, wall feeds, and photo or video discovery, as the dedicated site redirected to Rockstar’s homepage. The sources do not quantify how many profiles or media items were affected, explain Rockstar’s reason for the changes, or establish that the features will be restored. A functioning Rockstar login or game service should not be taken as evidence that those website features are still accessible.

Was this the same as GTA Online shutting down on PS3 and Xbox 360?
No. Rockstar ended GTA Online services for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on December 16, 2021, a separate, platform-specific event. Rockstar’s notice also said those versions’ website stat tracking ended and that character data or progress from those platform profiles could not be transferred. That shutdown did not describe the 2024 Social Club rebrand. Rockstar’s announcement covers the older console service ending.
