SEGA’s official material confirms that Amy has feelings for Sonic and pursues him, but it does not establish that Sonic and Amy are a couple. The distinction matters: a canon crush and romantic subtext are not the same as a confirmed relationship.
What SEGA’s official material says
SEGA Sonic Channel’s Amy Rose profile describes her as continuing to chase Sonic and making an effort to win him over. It also says she works on herself to get Sonic to notice her. That is direct support for Amy’s interest in him.
The official profile also describes Amy teaming up with Sonic. That establishes her as his ally in adventures, but teamwork alone does not show that Sonic returns her romantic feelings.
Does the official Sonic and Amy story make them a couple?
In a Sonic Channel story published February 22, 2021, Sonic and Amy’s outing plays with couple-coded humor. Amy makes a suggestive remark about already having some of her wishes fulfilled. The story leaves their status open rather than announcing that they are dating.

The same retrospective describes Amy as having feelings for Sonic and their bond as one of trust built through adventures and competition. It jokingly frames them as a “lovey-dovey?” pair in a game context, while suggesting Sonic is less enthusiastic. That is romantic subtext and playful framing—not an explicit relationship confirmation.
What Yuji Naka’s interview does—and does not—confirm
A 2010 blog post reproducing an interview attributed to Yuji Naka asks whether Sonic and Amy will ever get married. Naka’s reproduced answer says Amy will keep pursuing Sonic and that he cannot picture Sonic married or having children: “Amy will continue to pursue Sonic all the time, but Sonic will not ever get married.” (Daniel Sonic, September 25, 2010.)

The blog credits the interview to SEGA of America’s Sonic Central, but the original page was not accessible. Treat this as a historical interview answer reproduced by a third party, not a current formal SEGA canon rule. It speaks about marriage and Naka’s view of Sonic; it does not say the pair are dating, establish whether Sonic reciprocates Amy’s feelings, or declare every possible romance forbidden.

- Amy has a crush on Sonic: Supported by her official character profile.
- Their interactions have romantic subtext: Supported by the playful couple-coded material and retrospective framing in the official Sonic Channel story.
- Sonic and Amy are an established couple: Not confirmed by these sources; neither source explicitly labels them as dating.
The official Sonic Channel sources cited here are in Japanese. Their descriptions support the distinction between Amy’s feelings and the pair’s relationship status; romantic jokes or a teammate label should not be treated as a declaration that they are a couple.
